  • Publication number: 20220361110
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for detecting power consumption conditions to trigger transmission of user equipment (UE) assistance information (UAI) for a reconfiguration request. For example, an example method by a UE generally includes detecting one or more conditions associated with at least one metric related to UE power consumption; and transmitting UAI to a network entity, in response to the detection, to request a reconfiguration of the UE to operate according to a set of one or more parameters selected based on a value of the at least one metric.

  • Patent number: 11489569
Abstract: Aspects presented herein enable updating the codebook configuration upon the changing of the cover or case of the UE. The apparatus applies a first codebook from a plurality of preconfigured codebooks. The apparatus detects a change of a cover state of the UE, wherein the change alters a transmission beam pattern at the UE. The apparatus applies a second codebook from the plurality of preconfigured codebooks based on the change of the cover state.

  • Publication number: 20220264388
Abstract: A delta configuration is signaled for handover of a wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment, UE) from a first form of connectivity to a second form of connectivity. For example, a UE with master cell group (MCG) connectivity may be handed-over to multiple radio access technology-dual connectivity (MR-DC). In some examples, a UE with standalone (SA) connectivity may be handed-over to non-standalone (NSA) connectivity (e.g., dual connectivity). In conjunction with this handover the UE may be signaled as to whether the UE is to reuse a configuration from the first connectivity mode during the second connectivity mode.

  • Publication number: 20220248256
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may establish, in a communication mode, a communication connection with a first radio access technology (RAT) or a second RAT. The UE may receive or identify an indication to deprioritize the first RAT. The UE may perform, based at least in part on the indication to deprioritize the first RAT, an action to deprioritize the first RAT, where the action is based at least in part in the communication mode. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20220217042
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit assistance information to a base station to request an update or a modification to one or more communication parameters configured at the UE. Such communication parameters may include a quantity of uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layers, a quantity of downlink MIMO layers, a minimum scheduling offset, a maximum quantity of component carriers, or a maximum aggregated bandwidth for a secondary cell group (SCG). In some implementations, the UE may transmit the assistance information requesting the update or modification to one or more of such communication parameters based on detecting that the UE satisfies one or more triggering conditions or thresholds.

  • Publication number: 20220116852
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may communicate via a first connection using one or more transmit parameters. The UE may determine to suspend subsequent attempts to communicate via a second connection, in a dual connection mode, based at least in part on satisfaction of a threshold number of failed attempts to communicate via the second connection. The UE may determine one or more parameters for suspension of the subsequent attempts to communicate via the second connection based at least in part on a determination that satisfaction of the threshold number of failed attempts is associated with one or more exposure conditions that are based at least in part on the one or more transmit parameters. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11277831
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. For example, the described techniques provide for efficiently requesting all (or a threshold number of) system information (SI) messages that are on demand in a random access channel (RACH) procedure. In one example, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a request for all (or a threshold number of) SI messages in a radio resource control (RRC) connection request or message 3 RACH transmission even if the UE is configured with the option to request SI messages individually with one RACH resource per SI message. In another example, a UE may transmit a request for all (or a threshold number of) SI messages on an additional resource (e.g., RACH resource or other resource configured by a base station) when the UE is configured with the option to request SI messages individually with one RACH resource per SI message.

  • Publication number: 20220030411
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to maintain multiple message buffers for storing public warning system (PWS) information. The UE may receive a first segment of public PWS information via a first cell, where the PWS information is associated with a geographical scope that includes the first cell. The UE may perform a cell change procedure from the first cell to a second cell different from the first cell, and may receive a second segment of the PWS information via the second cell. The UE may then store the first segment and the second segment within multiple message buffers based on the second cell being included within the geographical scope associated with the PWS information.

  • Patent number: 11234259
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, and computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for managing communications with a base station by a processor of a wireless device. In one aspect, a processor of a wireless device may receive from the base station a system information change indication in first system information. The processor may determine from the first system information scheduling information of second system information. The processor may determine a factor that a request for the second system information will collide with a request from another wireless device for the second system information. The processor may send the request for the second system information using the determined factor.

  • Publication number: 20220022282
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, control signaling for communications in a wireless communications system. The control signaling may indicate a first duration for an inactivity timer. The UE may initiate the inactivity timer and a second timer based on identifying a period of inactivity. The second timer may have a second duration that is shorter than the first duration for the inactivity timer. In some examples, the second duration may be based on one or more parameters, such as a display status, a battery status, a scaling factor, the first duration, an application state, or any combination thereof. The UE may release a connection for the communications in the wireless communications system based on an expiration of the second timer, an expiration of the inactivity timer, or a combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20210377823
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may measure a parameter associated with a secondary cell group. The UE may perform an optimization response action for a dual connectivity mode of a first frequency parameter or a second frequency parameter when the parameter satisfies a threshold, wherein the optimization response action is associated with whether the secondary cell group is operating with the first frequency parameter or the second frequency parameter. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Patent number: 11122577
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a synchronization signal block associated with a first channel number as part of a scan, wherein the synchronization signal block indicates a second channel number corresponding to a cell-defining synchronization signal block. The UE may attempt acquisition for the cell-defining synchronization signal block at an elevated priority level based at least in part on the synchronization signal block indicating the second channel number. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Publication number: 20210274468
Abstract: Various aspects relate to acquisition of system information (SI). In some examples, a UE uses a guard timer to control how long the UE attempts to acquire a particular type of SI. In some examples, a UE that has entered a cell may determine whether there are any remaining paging occasions (e.g., that may indicate an SI update) during a period of time. If there is an insufficient number of paging occasions remaining (e.g., zero or one), the UE may monitor for broadcast SI. In some examples, after sending a request for SI to a base station, a UE may also periodically monitor for SI broadcast by the base station (e.g., to avoid potential delays in obtaining the SI). In some examples, if a UE does not acquire SI, the UE may use default SIB information (e.g., that expedites reselection to another cell).
