  • Publication number: 20070172535
Abstract: A cutter hub and blade assembly for cutting polymer strands extruded from a die face in a pelletizer has cutter blades mounted on the cutter hub at a steep angle. The blades are beveled along a portion of their leading edge to form a blunt cutting edge or surface to the blades which is generally perpendicular to the die face. By beveling the leading edge of a blade supported at a steep angle to form a blunt cutting edge, the bottom surface area of the blade in contact with the die face can be significantly reduced. The reduced contact area provides several advantages including a clean cut of the pellets and a faster blade grinding when seating the blades to the die face.

  • Publication number: 20060190820
Abstract: A method and system for providing a multi-lingual user interface such as to collect responses to questionnaires. The method consists of first defining a meta level specification for the interface (typically as one or more database entries) wherein the meta level specification includes a language specifier, one or more page specifications, and an optional designator for where to user store responses. The page specifications define the textual content of a visual page as objects within the page, and also define branching logic which controls transitions between pages in response to user inputs. The textual objects may include language-dependent specifications for where to render the text on the page, and at what size. In a preferred embodiment, the meta specification is defined as a database object. The textual objects can also specify attributes for the text as rendered on the visual page. In turn, the attributes may be a size or position of the text, the values of which depend on the language specified.

  • Publication number: 20060066435
Abstract: A composite fuse element includes a network or matrix of conductive material that is in contact and interspersed with arc suppressing materials at a particle level. In such a matrix, the conductive (e.g., metal) network and the arc suppressing material particles provides a large contact surface area between these materials. When the conductive network melts or vaporizes, the resulting conductive vapors are adsorbed into the arc suppressing particles in a short time due to the large contact area between conductive and arc suppressing materials and the short diffusion distance that the conductive vapors are required to travel before they are absorbed by the arc suppressing material.

  • Publication number: 20050112650
Abstract: Polyurethane polymers bearing multiple reactive groups are readily prepared from easily accessible precursors. The reactive groups of the polymers are then derivatized with binding functionalities for analytes, energy absorbing molecules for matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry, fluorescent moieties and the like. The reactive groups can also be converted to different reactive groups having a desired avidity or specificity for a selected reaction partner. The polymers are incorporated into devices of use for the analysis, capture, separation, or purification of an analyte. In an exemplary embodiment, the invention provides a substrate coated with a polymer of the invention, the substrate being adapted for use as a probe for a mass spectrometer.

  • Patent number: 6661276
Abstract: A matching circuit for coupling a conventional metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) driver to the gate of a junction field effect transistor (JFET). A driver circuit optimized for driving a MOSFET is combined with a matching circuit to provide gate drive for a JFET. The matching circuit comprises a resistor and capacitor in parallel. For driving enhancement mode JFETs having a gate grid array structure and a pinch-off voltage greater than 0.4 volts, the range of resistor values is 10 to 200 ohms, and the range of capacitor values is 1 to 100 nF. For devices having a pinch-off voltage less than 0.4 volts, the range of resistor values is 100 to 2000 ohms. The matching circuit may further include a diode to provide a bias.

  • Publication number: 20020192361
Abstract: The present invention uses an ultraviolet sensitive semiconductor ceramics to fabricate an ultraviolet sensor. For example, adding Sb5+ to tin dioxide containing Sn4+ to form SnO2:Sb. When exposing SnO2:Sb to ultraviolet rays, the electron Sb5+ exists in Energy Gap or Forbidden Band being excited, and jumps to Conductive Band, causing the conductivity of SnO2:Sb to be increased. More electrons are moved to Conductive Band following increasing of ultraviolet intensity, thereby causing the electric resistance value of SnO2:Sb to be reduced. A film of photosensitive semiconductor ceramics is connected and arranged with driving power, amplifier and control circuit, alarm system, etc., forming a miniature sensor.

  • Patent number: 6400005
Abstract: A new method is provided for the creation of a pre-molded chip carrier. The invention teaches putting magnetic inserts into the upper mold. The magnetic inserts attract the lead fingers that are inserted into the upper mold during the process of filling the cavity with a compound pressing the lead fingers tightly against the surface of the magnet. The possibility of mold compound spilling over the lead fingers and forming resin depositions on the surface of the lead fingers is thereby voided.
