Patent number: 9960853Abstract: A system and method using Differential Pulse Position Modulation (DPPM) to encode digital data so that it can be transmitted using an infrared (IR) link. The digital data is then decoded upon receipt. This invention can be implemented in software and run on an FPGA (or the like) for prototyping and integration with existing designs. The encoding, decoding and sensitive timing are handled by dedicated hardware, which greatly increases the speed of these processes because it frees up the processor to accomplish other tasks.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2016Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: The United States of America as Represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Daniel Collins, Glenn Shevach, Mark Blair

Publication number: 20180100894Abstract: Disclosed here is a system which uses simulations of an electronic circuit and a classifier to create an optimized Test Program Set. A user provides a model of the circuit, including descriptions of common faults. Candidate test signals are simulated in the circuit, evaluated using a classifier and a fitness function which optimizes for fault detection and isolation, and evolved according to a genetic algorithm. The system records the best test signals and terminates after reaching a certain fitness, or after a certain time. The process generates necessary information for an optimized Test Program Set for a given Unit Under Test circuit. This allows test program sets to be generated for complex circuits in a largely automated manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 7, 2016Publication date: April 12, 2018Applicant: United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Larry Venetsky, Ross Boczar, Russell Shannon, Daniel Collins, George Lehaf, Steven Singer

Patent number: 9813403Abstract: Various methods and systems for securing communications with enhanced media platforms, are provided. In particular, an enhanced media platform is authenticated using a trusted location. The authenticated enhanced media platform establishes a bidirectional trust with an enhanced remote location, the enhanced media platform being stored in the enhanced remote location. Upon authentication and establishing the bidirectional trust, the enhanced media platform may securely communicate media content in a media content distribution service infrastructure while supporting custom functionality. The method for securing communications with enhanced media platforms includes communicating authentication credentials to an internal security component at the trusted location. The method further includes receiving validation credentials from the internal security component. The method also includes authenticating the enhanced remote location based on at least a portion of the validation credentials received.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2016Date of Patent: November 7, 2017Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Jean-Emile Elien, Daniel Collins Balma, Rocco Crea, III, Michael Brendan Frei, Paul Stephen Hellyar, Victor Tan, Kye Hyun Kim, Travis J. Patent number: 9755938Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards providing a user with impact-related information regarding the impact of a monitored event (for a detected resource issue) to a managed system, such as a storage system. An event is generated when a resource such as a hard disk has an issue, e.g., has failed. Information from the event is automatically extracted and used to communicate with a management program coupled to the resource. Communication with the management program obtains information as to the impact the resource issue has to the system, e.g., what servers and/or applications are impacted. The impact-related data may be presented in a report to a user.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2012Date of Patent: September 5, 2017Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Russell Laporte, Daniel Collins, Ankita Pawar, Jun Liang
