    Abstract: A non-AP STA of a multi-link device (STA MLD) may be configured to encode a multi-link (ML) probe request frame for transmission to an access point STA (AP) of an AP MLD comprising a plurality of affiliated APs. When the probe request frame is sent outside the context of active scanning, to discover an AP of the AP MLD the ML probe request frame may be encoded to have an Address 1 field set to a broadcast address and an Address 3 field set to a BSSID of the AP, or encoded to have the Address 1 field set to a basic service set identity (BSSID) of the AP's BS. The non-AP STA may refrain from transmitting the ML probe request frame to the AP of the AP MLD in a corresponding link when another non-AP STA of the AP MLD has already received a ML probe response that included complete information from any one of the APs of the AP MLD in any link.

    Abstract: An extremely high-throughput (EHT) station (STA) is configured for transmission of a control response frame for rate selection. In response to a frame carried in an EHT PPDU soliciting a control response frame, the EHT STA may calculate a duration of a non-HT PPDU containing the control response frame sent at a primary rate. The EHT STA may also encode a high-efficient (HE) single-user (SU) PPDU (HE SU PPDU) for transmission to carry the solicited control response frame when a transmit time of the encoded HE SU PPDU is less than the calculated duration of the non-HT PPDU, or encode an EHT PPDU for transmission to carry the solicited control response frame when a transmit time of the encoded EHT PPDU is less than the calculated duration of the non-HT PPDU. A reduction in overhead may be achieved by using an HE SU PPDU or an EHT PPDU instead of a non-HT PPDU to carry a solicited control response frame.

    Abstract: Multi-link device (MLD) devices and transitions are described. The MAC addresses of the AP MLD and non-AP MLD are used to generate keys for different fast transitions (FT) between a non-AP MLD and an AP MLD. In an FT initial mobility domain operation, the AP MLD MAC address is used as the R1KH-ID and the non-AP MLD MAC address is used as the S0KH-ID and S1KH-ID. The MAC addresses are exchanged in Authentication Request/Response or Association Request/Response messages and the GTK/IGTK/BIGTK are delivered in a single FT 4-way handshake. In a fast MLD transition to an AP MLD in the same ESS, the other AP MLD MAC address is used as the R1KH-ID and the non-AP MLD MAC address is used as the S1KH-ID. The MAC addresses are exchanged in Authentication Request/Response or Association Request/Response messages and the GTK/IGTK/BIGTK are delivered in an FTE.

The neighbor report element may indicate whether the one or more neighbor APs identified in the neighbor report element are part of an AP MLD and, when a neighbor AP is indicated to be part of an AP MLD whether the reporting AP is part of the indicated AP MLD. The AP STA may decode a reassociation frame from one of the non-AP STAs for transition from one of the AP STAs of the AP MLD to one of the neighbor APs.

    Abstract: Multi-link device (MLD) security association (SA) query and query response procedures are described. Any of the links between an access point (AP) MLD and a non-AP MLD may be used to initiate association, reassociation, or disassociation procedures using the SA query requests and responses. The SA query request or response from one of the stations (STAs) associated with the MLD is sent to a corresponding linked one of the STAs associated with the other MLD. The SA request or response is addressed to the other MLD rather than the STA of the other MLD. Retry timeouts and maximum timeouts for resending SA query requests are set by the AP MLD and the same across each of the links.

Upon detecting the disable flag, a response HE PPDU can be encoded for transmission to the second wireless device. The response HE PPDU can include a second TXOP duration field with a disable flag within a PHY portion of the response HE PPDU.

The used BSS color may indicate communication between the AP and associated STAs. The AP may detect another PPDU from an STA that is un associated with the AP. If a header portion of the detected PPDU includes the used BSS color, the AP may: determine an alternate BSS color, and transmit a color switch announcement (CSA) element that indicates the alternate BSS color. The CSA element may be configurable to further indicate whether the AP and the associated STAs are to switch, from the operating channel to an alternate channel for the communication.
