  • Publication number: 20140229342
Abstract: Systems and methods, implemented with computing devices, enable a human operator to input in software environments degrees of preference for one or more products, items or services, in a single swipe or gesture; and values for one or more fields of data in a single swipe or gesture. The user performs gestures in software environments, through the interface of a computing device, to move and reposition objects representing products, items or services relative to a rating scale having a predetermined range of preference values, to indicate a degree of preference for each product, item or service. A plurality of objects may be moved and rated in a single gesture. Rating scales may be embedded in virtual environments. Methods included enable a user to input values for a plurality of data fields in a single swipe or gesture, at least in part by selecting or moving objects within a software environment.

  • Publication number: 20140171151
Abstract: Techniques for use in transferring an assignment of a secure chip of a wireless device from a current subscription manager (SM) of a current mobile network operator (MNO) to a new SM of a new MNO are described. In one illustrative example, the current SM receives a request for transferring the assignment and produces transfer permission data in response. The transfer permission data includes an identifier of the secure chip, an identifier of the current SM, and a digital signature of the current SM. The current SM then sends to the secure chip a transfer permission message which includes the transfer permission data. The transfer permission data indicates a permission for the secure chip to transfer the assignment from the current SM to the new SM. Additional techniques are performed by the secure chip, and the new SM, as described.

  • Publication number: 20140147310
Abstract: A submersible pumping system for downhole use in extracting fluids containing hydrocarbons from a well. In one embodiment, the pumping system comprises a rotary induction motor, a motor casing, one or more pump stages, and a cooling system. The rotary induction motor rotates a shaft about a longitudinal axis of rotation. The motor casing houses the rotary induction motor such that the rotary induction motor is held in fluid isolation from the fluid being extracted. The pump stages are attached to the shaft outside of the motor casing, and are configured to impart fluid being extracted from the well with an increased pressure. The cooling system is disposed at least partially within the motor casing, and transfers heat generated by operation of the rotary induction motor out of the motor casing.

  • Publication number: 20140108825
Abstract: An asset management system is provided, which includes a hardware module operating as an asset control core. The asset control core generally includes a small hardware core embedded in a target system on chip that establishes a hardware-based point of trust on the silicon die. The asset control core can be used as a root of trust on a consumer device by having features that make it difficult to tamper with. The asset control core is able to generate a unique identifier for one device and participate in the tracking and provisioning of the device through a secure communication channel with an appliance. The appliance generally includes a secure module that caches and distributes provisioning data to one of many agents that connect to the asset control core, e.g. on a manufacturing line or in an after-market programming session.

  • Publication number: 20140085665
Abstract: An inkjet printer is placed in communications with a print production planning and scheduling system to allow planning, monitoring, and adjusting of an automatic digital (ink jet) printing production line. In one embodiment, the order of the print jobs is defined by the print shop owner or by the associated supervisor. Each job becomes a paper based (printed) job ticket and the order in which the jobs arrive at the print operator side defines the print order. The same is true for the order at the RIP side. Any change in regards to this order requires a direct communication of the print shop owner or supervisor with the printer or RIP operator.

  • Publication number: 20140034736
Abstract: A process system for expediting the interpretation of information encoded or contained with an optical image capture for barcode decoding and machine vision applications that uses one or more each of which define one or more windows arranged according to equal rows or columns in the captured image that will be further processed to extract encoded or designer information. The scenarios and windows contained therein may be defined in memory and then recalled as needed based on the particular application so that multiple barcodes contained within a single image may be efficiently and expeditiously decoded.

  • Patent number: 8641553
Abstract: A flexible golf club grip having a brightly colored underlist of elastomeric material of a certain durometer and an outer layer of less durometer. The outer layer may have voids to expose portions of the underlist or the underlist may have portions thereof extend into the voids during molding but remain recessed below the surface of the outer layer. In another version, a brightly colored cover layer is molded over the underlist and a spiral wrapped strip of softer elastomer is molded thereover with the edges of the strip spaced to expose the original strip of the cover layer.
