  • Publication number: 20070048754
Abstract: Mutations of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFr), of phosphatidylinositol 3?-kinase (“Pl3K”), and of B-Raf are described. Methods of treating tumors containing mutated EGFr with human monoclonal antibodies against EGFr are described. Methods and kits for ascertaining the presence of one or more mutant EGFr, mutant Pl3K, and/or mutant B-Raf in a sample and for treating disorders or conditions related to the presence of mutant EGFr, mutant Pl3K, and/or mutant B-Raf are also described. Methods of treating tumors containing mutant EGFr, mutant Pl3K, and/or mutant B-Raf are also described.

  • Patent number: 7036950
Abstract: An illuminated key blank is provided with a blade and a head integral with the blade as a single piece. A cutout is preferably formed in the key blank head so that the head is substantially U-shaped, and a battery is disposed in the cutout between the arms of the U. A light source, preferably a light-emitting diode (LED), is selectively electrically connected to the battery. A casing is sealed around the head of the key and the battery, and the casing retains the light source in place so that the light source shines light substantially in the direction of the blade. The light source shines light which is preferably the same or a contrasting color as the color of the casing so that the key may be identified in the dark.

  • Publication number: 20050048163
Abstract: Disclosed is an animal feed. The animal feed includes fat, preferably vegetable oil; a solid nutritive source; such as a whole seed or grain or a fraction thereof; and a binder, the binder comprising hemicellulose. Also disclosed are methods for preparing an animal feed and for feeding an animal. When formulated into pellets, the disclosed animal feeds have excellent durability, such that pellet fracture and dust formation are minimized.

  • Patent number: 6590730
Abstract: A technique for managing the modes of the hard disk drive to extend battery life and reduce noise. The technique may be implemented by a processor in a portable digital music player that stores audio tracks on a hard disk drive, for example. This technique includes reading a block of audio data from the disk and storing the block in a buffer while the disk is spinning. Subsequent to reading the block, the disk is spun down to a power-saving mode, while the block is played from the buffer. While the block is being played from the buffer, the technique includes monitoring the amount of the block left to be played. When the amount the block left to be played drops below a low threshold level, the disk is transitioned from the power saving mode back to a spinning mode so that data can be read from the disk before the block is finished being played from the buffer.

  • Publication number: 20020089774
Abstract: A technique for extending battery life and reducing noise in a portable music player storing tracks on a hard drive reads a track from the disk to a buffer and plays the track from the buffer while the disk is spun down to a power-saving state. Noise and vibration is also reduced when the disk is spun down.

  • Patent number: 6303896
Abstract: A component (10) to be balanced is fixtured between rotatable fixtures (22, 24) that establish a simulated rotational centerline and is rotated to a preselected rotational speed where the magnitude and angular location of maximum imbalance is determined. An automatic control system (50) generates a laser light pulse locally at the location of imbalance while the component is rotated to remove material of the location with the laser light pulse having a power and/or duration dependent on the amount of material that needs to be removed from the location of imbalance. The sequence is repeated by the automatic control system for additional revolutions of the component until the balance satisfies a preselected balance tolerance range.
