For example, an application executing on a computing device may authenticate credentials associated with an account and detect a tap of a contactless card to the computing device. The application may receive, from a communications interface of the contactless card, action data used to determine an action associated with the tap of the contactless card to the computing device. The application may determine a context of the application based on a current output of the application. The application may determine, based on the action data, the determined context, and data associated with the account, a first action associated with the tap of the contactless card to the computing device, the first action associated with at least one of the application and an operating system (OS). The application may initiate performance of the first action based on the tap of the contactless card.

    Abstract: A position alignment system facilitates positioning of a contactless card in a ‘sweet spot’ in a target volume relative to a contactless card reading device. Alignment logic uses information captured from available imaging devices such as infrared proximity detectors, cameras, infrared sensors, dot projectors, and the like to guide the card to a target location. The captured image information is processed to identify a card position, trajectory and predicted location using one or both of a machine learning model and/or a Simultaneous Localization and Mapping logic. Trajectory adjustment and prompt identification may be intelligently controlled and customized using machine-learning techniques to customize guidance based on the preference and/or historical behavior of the user. As a result, the speed and accuracy of contactless card alignment is improved and received NFC signal strength is maximized, thereby reducing the occurrence of dropped transactions.

    Abstract: Example embodiments relate to reissuing or otherwise altering a contactless card. These embodiments are particularly well-suited to an emergency reissue in which many cards have been compromised as the result of a data breach of a major credit card provider or department store. An exemplary contactless card includes a chip that stores encrypted authentication information, including a primary account number (PAN) that identifies the card. The chip may include a first applet responsible making payments with the card; the first applet may manage the PAN. A second applet may be capable of interacting with an outside application, and may serve as a bridge to the first applet. A rewrite of the PAN may be triggered by issuing a write command to the second applet, or by interacting with the chip in a predetermined manner (e.g., tapping the card on an interactable element a predetermined number of times).

The server may verify the encrypted data and transmit an indication of an account number for the contactless card to the mobile device. The mobile device may then copy the account number to a clipboard of the mobile device.
