The transmission assembly is operatively connected between the articulation control member and the articulation section of the shaft assembly. The transmission assembly is configured to transmit selective manipulation of the articulation control member to the articulation section and selectively actuate the articulation section.

A clamp arm assembly is moveable from an opened position for receiving a tissue, toward a closed position for clamping the tissue. A clamp arm actuator connected to the clamp arm assembly directs the clamp arm assembly from the opened position toward the closed position. An outer sheath surrounds at least a portion of the ultrasonic waveguide. The outer sheath includes a cover removably received against a sheath body, and a sheath securement feature able to detachably couple the cover to the sheath body such that the cover can be detached from the sheath body for accessing the ultrasonic waveguide within the outer sheath.

    Abstract: A surgical device for applying clips is disclosed including a cartridge, an RFID tag, and a controller. The cartridge includes a plurality of clips. A crimping drive is configured to move a first jaw and a second jaw to a closed position during a crimping stroke. One of the plurality of clips is crimped around tissue during the crimping stroke. Stored data on the RFID tag relates to an identifying characteristic of at least one of the plurality of clips within the cartridge. An RFID scanner is configured to receive a first signal from the RFID tag in response to an interrogation signal. The first signal includes the stored data on the RFID tag. A controller in communication with the RFID scanner is configured to compare the stored data to a set of compatibility data and vary an operational parameter of the surgical device based on the stored data.

The end effector comprises an ultrasonic blade in acoustic communication with the waveguide. The articulation drive assembly is operable to drive articulation of the articulation section to thereby deflect the end effector from the longitudinal axis.
