    Abstract: An apparatus for inverting the spatial orientation of sheet material from a desired input to a desired output orientation. The apparatus includes a cage assembly, a torque drive mechanism operative to rotate the cage assembly about a rotational axis and a sheet conveyance mechanism mounting to the cage assembly for conveying sheet material along the rotational axis of the cage assembly. The torque drive mechanism is adapted to assume input and output positions about the rotational axis wherein each position corresponds to the desired input and output orientations of the sheet material. The sheet conveyance mechanism is, further, adapted to: (i) receive sheet material when the cage assembly is in the input position, (ii) eject sheet material when the cage assembly is in the output position and (iii) retard the movement of the sheet material in response to rotation of the cage assembly by the torque drive mechanism.

    Abstract: In a web cutter where a blade is used to cut a continuous paper web into sheets, a tractor is used to move the web past the blade for cutting. The tractor operates in a start-and-stop cycle so that the web is temporarily stopped to allow the blade to lower and shear the web. The tractor accelerates in the next cycle to move another length of paper downstream from the blade. A high-speed cutter requires high acceleration of the tractor. This acceleration force causes the web to whip up uncontrollably, causing the web to break or wrinkle. To reduce the web breakage, a moving mechanism positioned upstream from the tractor and operate a second motion cycle is used to move the web toward the tractor such that a loop of paper is formed upstream of the tractor, thereby reducing the whipping action of the web.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of viewing and processing hyper-spectral image data compressed using a VQ algorithm. According to the invention the data is compressed using a codebook of codevectors including binary spectral vectors, which allows processing of the compressed data and viewing of data within a datacube without expanding the compressed data into the complete datacube. In order to view an image derived from a datacube, for each pixel within the image a location within the datacube is selected, an index value from the index map at that location is retrieved, and a spectral value from a spectral vector within the codebook is retrieved for said pixel, the spectral vector identified by the retrieved index. A single spectral vector is easily viewed by displaying a spectral vector from the codebook.

The assist unit comprises a pair of constant speed rollers (42, 44) supported by mounting blocks (40). The orientation of the assist unit is changed by rotating the mounting blocks.     Abstract: A splicer for joining with tape the abutted ends of two sheets, such as the headers and footers of stacks of fanfold paper to be printed upon, is comprised of a clamp assembly and a tape dispenser. The clamp assembly captures the ends of the sheets between the resilient surfaces of a base and a movable top comprised of two spaced apart bars. Pins in the base help align perforated paper for joining. The dispenser runs along the slot between the two bars. It dispenses, presses down, and cuts the tape as it is laid along the butt-line between the ends of the sheets. An optional reversing bar causes the two sheets to travel along different shape paths to the splicer, thus enabling application of tape to the opposing sides of the sheets.

    Abstract: Apparatus for feeding stacks of fanfold sheets is comprised of a belt conveyor, a positioner, and a splicer. The conveyor feeds stacks deposited thereon by the positioner toward the discharge end. The postioner is comprised of a U-shape bin which receives fanfold stacks and then turns them over and deposits them at a desired position along the length of the conveyor belt. In one embodiment, the stacks are lifted from the floor level. In another, the positioner translates along the base of the conveyor and includes a mechanism which automatically locks the positioner in place during loading. A splicer is positioned over the belt. Header and footer ends of adjacent stacks are run to the splicer where they are precisely clamped and then adhesively joined together, on the top side or underside, as desired. The conveyor has a sensor and drive system which automatically advances stacks toward the discharge end and signals the operator when there is a need to reload.

    Abstract: The present invention provides new offsetting paper stacking devices and methods which automatically stack sheets of paper into groups which are offset from each other. The offsetting paper stacker stacks sheets of paper that are feed into an input end of the device one at a time at a high rate of speed. The paper is stacked in one pile, however, within that pile there are groups of sheets that are stacked at a sideways offset to the group immediately above and below. Accordingly, every other group of sheets of paper will be in line with each other and each adjacent group will be offset from each other. The offsetting paper stacker includes stacker wheels which are rotatable about two axes of rotation to stack the paper in an offset manner.

The three-piece barrel container is similar to the two-piece container except that it includes a body portion, a bottom cap and a separate top cap with a plurality of top flaps adapted to be folded inwardly to form the top of the container.
