  • Publication number: 20200125051
Abstract: An appliance may be controlled remotely, such as from a mobile device of a person. For example, a person may use their mobile device to cause an appliance to be disconnected from a power source or to be connected to a power source. In some instances, remote connection of an appliance to a power source may create an unsafe situation, such as when a stove that has been left on (e.g., via a control or switch of the stove) is connected to a power source. To improve safety after remotely connecting an appliance to a power source, the appliance may be monitored for an unsafe situation (e.g., the appliance generating heat, emitting gas, or consuming electricity), and if an unsafe situation is determined, the appliance may be disconnected from the power source.

  • Publication number: 20200124378
Abstract: A system for supporting a firearm in a generally vertical position includes a stock support member to support the stock of the firearm, a first fastening element operatively connectable to a user, and a second fastening element mounted with respect to the firearm. The system is configured such that the first and second fastening elements remain engaged when the firearm is in the generally vertical position so that the firearm is supported only by the fastening elements and the stock support member, but automatically disengage when the firearm is moved to a generally horizontal position for firing. A method includes connecting the first fastening element to a human user via a flexible harness and moving the firearm from the first position to the second position.

  • Publication number: 20200001762
Abstract: A lock for a pivoting member in a vehicle comprising: a button having a depressed position and an undepressed position; a cam abutting the button having a rotated position and an un-rotated position; and a rod operably connected to the cam having an extended position and a retracted position; wherein, when the button is in the depressed position, the cam is in the rotated position, and the rod is in the retracted position. The pivoting member can be an armrest or a seatback, among other things. The rod includes a first grooved section. The cam includes a first finger adjacent to the first grooved section. As the cam transitions from the un-rotated position to the rotated position, the first finger of the cam interacts with the first grooved section of the rod to cause the rod to transition from the extended position to the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 10509381
Abstract: An electric or gas range may be monitored or controlled with an integrated appliance assistant. The range may include multiple sensors, such as sensors measuring temperature proximate to a burner, power usage by the burner (e.g., electricity or gas consumption), temperature proximate to an oven, or power usage by the oven. The measurements received from the sensors may be processed by a control board, and the control board may be configured to turn off a burner and/or the oven based on the measurements. Such an electric or gas range may provide increased safety by turning off a burner or the oven in the event of a fire or a person accidentally leaving it on.

  • Patent number: 10192011
Abstract: A method for estimating wave field characteristics in 3D comprising the following steps: using a ray trace model to estimate RF wave front paths as they propagate from a transmitter to a plurality of given points within a geographical area of interest; constructing a ray bundle for each point; sorting the points into mode constellations according to the points' hop count and apogee characteristics; constructing a Delaunay triangulation of each mode constellation; computing a covariance estimation for each triangle in each mode constellation; and estimating the wave field characteristics over the entire geographical area of interest based on a summation of constituent ray bundles' characteristics within each mode constellation.

  • Publication number: 20180345108
Abstract: A baseball and a method of instructing throwing a baseball is disclosed. The baseball has a seam, a first, preferably green, color zone placed on a first side of the ball, a second, preferably yellow color zone placed around a first circumference of the ball, and a third, preferably red, color zone placed on a second side of the ball. A pair of finger placement markings are carried on the first color zone. The baseball player is instructed to engage in a proper throwing motion, and the ball confirms by maintaining visual line of sight with the first color zone throughout, providing feedback of a correct throwing motion in which the ball is drawn. away from the target with the arm and hand placed in a correct position.
