  • Publication number: 20080273781
Abstract: A method for processing CT colonography input image voxel data representative of 3-dimensional images of a colon having gas and stool tagged with stool tagging agent, to remove the stool from the images. The input image voxel data is generated by an imaging instrument having a characteristic point spread function representative of instrument blurring. The point spread function of the instrument can be empirically determined, and the image data processed as a function of the point spread function to accurately identify and remove the tagged stool. In one embodiment of the invention, portions of the image data representative of the tagged stool and colon tissue are dilated as a function of the point spread function.

  • Patent number: 7440601
Abstract: Portions of a virtual colon can be analyzed to identify a normal structure, such as an ileocecal valve. Paradigmatic characteristics of ileocecal valves can be used to identify a digital representation as an ileocecal valve. Upon determination that a digital representation has the characteristics of an ileocecal valve, action can be taken. For example, the digital representation can be removed from a list of polyp candidates.

Abstract: A system and method provide unaligned load/store functionality for a processor that supports only aligned load/store instructions. An exemplary embodiment includes an extension adapter including registers for storing data and load/store buffers for realigning data. A processor executes aligned load/store instructions that transfer data in multiples of bytes. Instructions are included for transferring data between memory and the load/store buffers, initializing and transferring data, initializing and transferring data in numbers of bits, advancing or offsetting a data pointer, and for flushing the load/store buffers. In a preferred embodiment, the extension adapter comprises a wide register file for buffering full words of data, load/store buffers formed from multiple single-bit registers for buffering data bits and streaming data for use by the processor, and address generators for pointing to data or memory addresses.

  • Publication number: 20070285252
Abstract: A single sided RF tag suitable for use for electronic article surveillance comprises a tuned circuit formed on one side of a substrate. Provided by a deposited first conducting layer which comprises an inductive coil, which behaves as an antenna and is electrically connected to a first capacitor plate and a connection means to connect to a second conducting layer. A low dissipation factor dielectric layer is deposited onto said first conducting layer. A second conducting layer comprising at least one capacitor and a connection means to electrically connect to the first conducting layer is deposited on the dielectric layer. The second capacitor plate is substantially co-located above the first capacitor plate, to form the capacitor. The capacitor and coil together form a resonant circuit.

  • Publication number: 20070268113
Abstract: An RF tag suitable for use for electronic article surveillance comprises a tuned circuit formed by an inductive coil, which behaves as an antenna on a first side of a substrate electrically connected to a capacitor having plates on each side of an dielectric layer which may be the substrate. The capacitor and coil together form a resonant circuit. To permit deactivation of the tag the circuit also includes a discontinuity closed by a switch composition whose conducting properties can be changed from an insulating state to a conducting state when the tag is subjected to a strong electric field at or around its resonant frequency. The switch composition may, for example, be arranged to short out the capacitor plates or introduce additional capacitor plates or change the properties of the inductive coil. Alternatively the switch composition may introduce additional components (e.g. an IC) into the circuit. The tag may be arranged for sequential retuning to give a multifrequency tag.

  • Publication number: 20070261595
Abstract: Autocatalytic plating is a form of electrode-less plating in which a metal, for example, cobalt, nickel, gold, silver or copper, is deposited onto a substrate via a chemical reduction process. Coatings derived from this process are usually more uniform and adherent than from other processes and can be applied to unusually shaped surfaces. Non-metallic surfaces can only usually be coated via this process following suitable sensitisation of the substrate. This invention therefore provides a method of preparing a substrate material for subsequent autocatalytic deposition of a metal coating reducing the need for surface preparation by using a reducible silver salt with a suitable filler in a printable ink formulation. Autocatalytic deposition may be used to coat whole surfaces or pre-determined patterns may be deposited by known printing methods.

  • Publication number: 20070255685
Abstract: A method and system for modelling data that provides a constrained design space in which data is modelled is described. In particular, the invention provides for a method and system for modelling data wherein any real world entity is defined as an object of some particular type within an object table or data store. Real world entities also include things like databases, relational links between entity objects, as well as link and object types themselves. Relationships between entity objects can then be defined in a separate link database or table, which references entity objects stored within the object database or table with respect to a link type, which is also stored within the object database or table. Representing the data to be modelled within this way leads to the existence of an object hierarchy, which enables a system to define its own definitions.

  • Patent number: 7284114
Abstract: A video processing system with reconfigurable instructions includes a processor, a first register file in the processor, an extension adapter, programmable logic, a second register file coupled to the programmable logic, and a load/store module. The processor executes a video application that contains an instruction extension not native to the instruction set of the processor. The extension adapter detects the instruction extension in the video application. The programmable logic device is configured to execute the instruction extension. The programmable logic device then executes the instruction extension. The load/store module transfers data between the first register file and the second register file, and transfers data directly between the second register file and a system memory for use by the processor in processing the video application.

  • Publication number: 20070181352
Abstract: The present invention is an improved cart coupler assembly for use on a shopping cart retriever vehicle. The cart coupler assembly provides a means for connecting shopping carts to the cart retriever vehicle. The cart coupler assembly may employ an actuator to move yokes into position to enable the yokes to engage shopping cart members. The cart coupler assembly may employ the upwardly facing concave surfaces of U-shaped yokes to engage the rear wheels of a shopping cart. In the place of yokes, the cart coupler assembly may utilize a shopping cart emulator that emulates one or more portions or features of a shopping cart in order to facilitate the engagement of the coupler assembly to a shopping cart.

  • Publication number: 20070169048
Abstract: A method of determining ranges for algorithmic variables for a processor that uses fixed point arithmetic is provided. The method comprises expressing overflow requirements of processor instructions as inequalities. The method also expresses precision requirements and expressiveness requirements as inequalities and merit functions. A global constraint and optimizer tool is used to find ranges for algorithmic variables based on the inequalities and the merit functions. The use of constraint equation solving and optimization finds optimal algorithmic ranges that provide overflow-free arithmetic as well as optimal expressiveness and precision.
