  • Publication number: 20070181352
Abstract: The present invention is an improved cart coupler assembly for use on a shopping cart retriever vehicle. The cart coupler assembly provides a means for connecting shopping carts to the cart retriever vehicle. The cart coupler assembly may employ an actuator to move yokes into position to enable the yokes to engage shopping cart members. The cart coupler assembly may employ the upwardly facing concave surfaces of U-shaped yokes to engage the rear wheels of a shopping cart. In the place of yokes, the cart coupler assembly may utilize a shopping cart emulator that emulates one or more portions or features of a shopping cart in order to facilitate the engagement of the coupler assembly to a shopping cart.

  • Publication number: 20070169048
Abstract: A method of determining ranges for algorithmic variables for a processor that uses fixed point arithmetic is provided. The method comprises expressing overflow requirements of processor instructions as inequalities. The method also expresses precision requirements and expressiveness requirements as inequalities and merit functions. A global constraint and optimizer tool is used to find ranges for algorithmic variables based on the inequalities and the merit functions. The use of constraint equation solving and optimization finds optimal algorithmic ranges that provide overflow-free arithmetic as well as optimal expressiveness and precision.

  • Publication number: 20070102585
Abstract: A method for avoiding singularities in the movement of a set of collinear CMGs in an array of CMGs in a spacecraft is provided. First, a command to adjust an orientation of the spacecraft is received. Then, the momentum needed from the set of collinear CMGs is determined. A dynamic control that determines a momentum path and avoids singularities by rotating the singularities out of the momentum path is used and a required gimbal movement for each of the CMGs in the set of collinear CMGs from the momentum path is calculated.

  • Publication number: 20060272599
Abstract: A two-stroke engine having both a direct injector and an indirect injector. The direct injector injects fuel into the cylinder without passing through the crank case. The indirect injector is in fluid communication with the crank case. It provides fuel delivery through the crank case and through a transfer channel to the cylinder. A controller is coupled to the direct injector and to the indirect injector. The controller starts, stops, and varies the fuel delivery of each injector. The controller is programmed to increase the fuel delivery of the indirect injector at a predetermined engine speed. The controller maintains primary fuel flow through the direct injector below a predetermined engine speed. The controller varies the fuel delivery based on at least one of following: engine speed, throttle position, exhaust valve position, intake air temperature, exhaust temperature, barometric pressure, coolant water temperature, and piston position.

  • Publication number: 20060203613
Abstract: There is provided herein a system and method of acquiring, processing, and imaging transient Controlled Source ElectroMagnetic (t-CSEM) data in ways that are similar to those used for seismic data. In particular, the instant invention exploits the time-distance characteristics of t-CSEM data to permit the design and execution of t-CSEM surveys for optimal subsequent processing and imaging. The instant invention illustrates how to correct t-CSEM data traces for attenuation and dispersion, so that their characteristics are more like those of seismic data and can be processed using algorithms familiar to the seismic processor. The resulting t-CSEM images, particularly if combined with corresponding seismic images, may be used to infer the location of hydrocarbon reservoirs.

  • Publication number: 20060194343
Abstract: A method for selectively orienting molecules on a surface of a solid support. The method includes the steps of: (a) attaching a linker molecule to the surface of the solid support, the linker molecule including a head group that is capable of binding to the solid support, and a tail group that is capable of chelating to a metal ion; (b) subsequently treating the solid support with a solution containing the metal ion; (c) attaching a metal ion chelating tag to the molecules to form tagged molecules; and (d) capturing the tagged molecules on the solid support by contacting it with the tagged molecules to form a monolayer of molecules on the surface of the solid support in which a majority of the molecules are held in the same orientation with respect to the surface. The invention also provides a sensor chip formed using the methods of the invention.
