  • Patent number: 9796166
Abstract: Filter assemblies are processing biological fluid, such as blood or a blood component containing leukocytes. The filter assemblies include a flexible housing with first and second walls. A filtration medium and a support member are at least partially positioned between the walls of the housing, with a seal joining the walls of the housing, the filtration medium, and the support member. The filter assemblies may further include a pre-filter and/or a post-filter positioned between the walls of the housing. If provided, the pre- and post-filter may be positioned on opposite walls of the filtration medium, with the post-filter being a mesh positioned between the filtration medium and one of the walls of the housing or within an opening defined by the support member. A seal of the filter assembly may pass through the filtration medium, with the filtration medium being substantially omitted in a section of the seal.

  • Patent number: 9725060
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate altering the rigidity of a vehicle's surface. More particularly, the vehicle may contain tension members that are arranged so that a change in tension across one or more of the tension members will alter the rigidity of the vehicle's surface. The vehicle may identify and respond to a potential collision by altering the tension that is applied to one or more tension members, thereby altering the rigidity of the vehicle's surface.

  • Patent number: 9650054
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for determining the location of a vehicle. According to one aspect the method and apparatus the movements of motor rotors in a vehicle are monitored and used to determine speed, travel distance and/or travel path of a vehicle may be determined. Using various navigation techniques, the distance and travel path may then be used to determine the vehicle's location. Furthermore, movements of the motor rotors may also be used to report the positions of the steering and drive systems for the purpose of informing the vehicle controller as a method of feedback.

  • Patent number: 9647999
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to systems, methods and computer program products for assigning a level of authentication to an authentication bucket. Embodiments determine a current level of authentication corresponding to a first authentication bucket comprising a plurality of mobile banking functions; collect a set of circumstantial data corresponding with the apparatus; determine a circumstances score based at least in part on the set of circumstantial data; and determine whether the current level of authentication corresponding to the first authentication bucket is appropriate based at least in part on the circumstances score.

  • Patent number: 9579253
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to arrangements for attaching an RFID tag to a liquid container, and particularly to a blood components container. The RFID tag may be inserted in an enclosure, such as peel tab, or in a sealed cup attached to a container port. The tag could alternately be embedded in a molded plug or component attached to a port. The RFID antenna could be painted or stamped on the surface of the container. Or the tag could be inserted into the container to float freely in the liquid components. The RFID source may be secured around the neck of a rigid or semi-rigid container, attached with a tether or attached to a connector assembled in association with a blood component or other fluid flow path.

  • Patent number: 9566772
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a plurality of filter assemblies is provided that includes providing first and second housing sheets and positioning a filtration medium therebetween. Heat and pressure are applied to form first, second, and peripheral seals of at least two filter assemblies at the same time. Each second seal is positioned outboard of the associated first seal with a non-seal area therebetween, while each peripheral seal is positioned outboard of the associated second seal. The first seal commingles the housing sheets and the filtration medium, while the peripheral seal and the periphery of the second seal commingle only the housing sheets. The peripheral seal may include a tear seal to enable separation of a plurality of adjacent filter assemblies.

  • Patent number: 9566939
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to adjusting a shear pin to minimize an impact force felt by an object in a collision with a vehicle. For example, one or more second computing devices may receive, from one or more first computing devices, information indicating that an impact with an object is imminent. In response to the received information, the second computing devices may determine a first shear force for a first shear pin, wherein the first shear force is a desired amount of shear force necessary to break the first shear pin. The second computing devices may send a triggering signal to activate an actuator prior to an impact with the identified impact target. The actuator, in response to receiving the triggering signal, may adjust the first shear pin in a first pinhole, so the first shear pin will break at the first shear force.

  • Patent number: 9548997
Abstract: A computer system receives a service request over a service channel from a user device, initiates a challenge to the user device to provide authentication information based on a set of authenticators, and determines an initial level of authentication. When the initial level of authentication is not sufficient for the service channel or protected resource, the apparatus generates a challenge to the user device with at least one additional authenticator and determines an achieved level of authentication based on the further authentication information. When the achieved level of authentication reaches a target authentication level for the service channel, the apparatus continues processing the service request by the service channel. The computer may transfer the service request to another service channel with the authentication token obtained on the original service channel and further challenges the user device with additional authenticators when a higher level of authentication is necessary.
