  • Publication number: 20190352792
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for electroplating which employ seed layer detection. Such methods may operate by selecting a wafer, illuminating one or more points within an interior region of the wafer surface, measuring a first set of one or more in-process color signals from the one or more points within the interior region, illuminating one or more points within an edge region of the wafer surface, measuring a second set of one or more in-process color signals from the one or more points within the edge region, each color signal having one or more color components, calculating a metric indicative of a difference between the color signals in the first and second sets of in-process color signals, determining whether an acceptable seed layer is present on the wafer based on whether the metric is within a predetermined range, and repeating the foregoing for one or more additional wafers.

  • Publication number: 20190306786
Abstract: A home automation (HA) system may include addressable HA devices and an HA interface device that includes a housing, a display, and an audio input device carried by the housing. The HA interface device may also include a controller carried by the housing to store HA device signatures of the addressable HA devices and determine an unpaired addressable HA device and compare the associated HA device signature of the unpaired addressable HA device with the stored HA device signatures. The controller may also, when there is a match between the HA device signature of the unpaired addressable HA device and one of the stored HA device signatures, permit pairing of the unpaired addressable HA device to communicate with the unpaired addressable HA device using a respective wireless communications protocol, and selectively operate paired addressable HA devices based upon voice commands received via the audio input device.

  • Patent number: 10416302
Abstract: Compressive imaging captures images in compressed form, where each sensor does not directly correspond with a pixel, as opposed to standard image capture techniques. This can lead to faster image capture rates due to lower I/O bandwidth requirements, and avoids the need for image compression hardware, as the image is captured in compressed form. Measuring the transformation of an emitted multimodal signal is one method of compressive imaging. Metamaterial antennas and transceivers are well suited for both emitting and receiving multimodal signals, and are thus prime candidates for compressive imaging.

  • Patent number: 10371813
Abstract: An imaging system as disclosed can include multiple bistatic radar sensors configured to transmit electromagnetic waves towards a surface of a target object and configured to measure the electromagnetic waves reflected from the surface of the target object. The imaging system includes a computing device that determines time of flight estimates based on the measured waves. The computing device can draw, within an image model for the target object, multiple candidate surface portions of the surface of the target object based on the TOF estimates and predetermined positions of the bistatic radar sensors. Further, the computing device can assign weights to the candidate surface portions. The computing device can determine points where the candidate surface portions meet with a predetermined probability based on the weights. The computing device is configured to define an estimated surface of the target object in the image model based on the determined points.

  • Publication number: 20190218260
Abstract: Cell loss by apoptosis is a common feature in certain conditions, including cancer. Dying tumor cells induce immune tolerance within the tumor microenvironment largely through highly conserved homeostatic clearance programs that are designed to restore tissue homeostasis and contribute to the formation of an immunosuppressive niche. The translocation of phosphatidylserine (PS) on cellular membranes, during the initial phases of apoptosis, functions as a recognition and removal signal that limits the immunogenicity of cell death. To remove inhibitory signals in the homeostatic clearance pathway a fusion protein comprising a phosphatidylserine binding domain and an immunostimulatory domain can restore immune responses to dead tumor cells in antigen cross presentation assays and promotes recruitment and retention of tumor antigen specific immune effector cells into tumors.

  • Patent number: 10350598
Abstract: A fluidic module rotatable about a center of rotation includes a first compression chamber having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a second compression chamber having a fluid inlet, a first fluid channel connected to the first chamber via the fluid inlet of the first chamber, and a second fluid channel connecting the fluid outlet of the first chamber to the fluid inlet of the second chamber. Due to rotation of the fluidic module a liquid may be centrifugally driven into the first chamber and the second fluid channel through the first fluid channel, and thereby a compressible medium may be entrapped and compressed within the second chamber. By lowering the rotary frequency and due to the resultant expansion of the compressible medium, liquid may be driven out of the second fluid channel into the first chamber, out of the first chamber into and through an outlet channel.

  • Publication number: 20190209257
Abstract: A medical bag comprises a flexible shell and having opening and a zip fastener for closing the opening. The zip fastener includes two sliders arranged to close the zip from opposing ends in a direction towards each other along the length of the zip fastener. The sliders are movable between an open configuration in which they are located at opposing ends of the zip fastener and a closed configuration in which they are located at a stop position at the centre of the zip fastener. The bag further includes a pair of positioned at a common location along the length of the zip coincident with the stop position of the sliders. The handles are located on opposing sides of the zip fastener and are arranged to enable a person to impart forces in opposing directions away from the zip transverse to the length of the zip to open the zip when the zip is closed with the sliders located at the stop position to enable the bag to be ripped open in a very rapid manner to access the medical equipment in time critical situations.

  • Patent number: 10348940
Abstract: A high-speed video system is disclosed that includes a moving image absorbing disk at an image plane. The disk has a pattern that passes and blocks image data. The disk is located between an event and an image sensor, or reflects an image to the image sensor. The disk is rotated at a speed that matches the desired reconstructed image frame rate. The image sensor frame data is processed using image reconstruction techniques, such as the D-AMP or TWIST algorithm, to recover a time sequence of reconstructed images. Additional images can be reconstructed for each image sensor frame if some spatial resolution is sacrificed. For continuous video, the disk speed is adjusted to the sensor frame rate. For burst mode, a single sensor image is acquired and a short image sequence is reconstructed. This image capture system works with a variety of radiations, including infrared, light, UV and X-rays.

  • Patent number: 10315874
Abstract: A web break apparatus is disclosed for cutting and severing a web. The web break apparatus includes a first rotating device that rotates generally at the same speed as a moving web. Positioned on the circumference of the first rotating device is a web engaging device and a straining element. When a web break is desired, the web engaging device and straining element are brought into contact with the web. The web engaging device engages the web, while the straining element causes a web break. The web break apparatus may be used in any suitable winding system. For instance, the winding system may be for winding a web to produce rolled products.
