  • Publication number: 20120297899
Abstract: Sample preparation device for receiving in sealing relation one or more filter assemblies and one or more sample containers, each container uniquely positioned within the device to receive filtered sample from a designated filter. The device includes a body, a lid disposed on the body, a container tray, a base, an integrated seal on the body, a valve and a valve actuator. The tray can be disposed in a vacuum chamber defined by the lid and the body, and one or more sample containers can be disposed in the tray. When properly positioned in the tray in the vacuum chamber, each container is in fluid communication with a single respective filter assembly disposed in sealing relation in a respective aperture in the lid. A single actuation of a valve causes the lid to seal to the base and drives the simultaneous filtration of a plurality of samples.

  • Publication number: 20060221019
Abstract: An improved spatial light modulation display system includes light sources for providing red, green, and blue light. A system controller includes functionality for controlling a color balance of the red, green, and blue light. A sensor is provided for sensing light from each of the light sources. The controller can detect a shift in color balance based on the intensity of light sensed by the sensor. If the sensor output indicates that the sensor is operating out of a desirable range, the spatial light modulator can modulate the light in order change the brightness of light sensed by the sensor. The modulation pattern can be varied until the sensor output is a specified value or within a specified range of values. In a preferred embodiment, the sensor is located to receive off-state light from the spatial light modulator so as to avoid obstruction of light used for displaying images.

  • Publication number: 20060197776
Abstract: A method and system for performing spatial temporal multiplexing using a multi-threshold mask. A mask generator (404) outputs a threshold value for each pixel of a display. The mask generator typically creates a blue noise mask for a given pixel array that is replicated over the face of the entire display. The blue noise mask generator (404) typically is implemented as a memory lookup table. An index generator (402) provides an offset into the memory lookup table that allows the table to be shifted from time to time. The output of the blue noise mask generator (404), which may be the threshold value itself or a signal representing which threshold is being used, is an input to a selective inverter (406). The selective inverter (406) provides the option of inverting the blue noise mask. To reduce artifacts, the mask is periodically shifted and/or inverted. The value from the mask generator (404), whether inverted or not, is compared to the LSBs of the input data word to yield the fractional bit values.

  • Publication number: 20060145975
Abstract: A method for displaying an image using a digital micromirror device having a plurality of mirrors operable to assume a plurality of positions is provided. The method includes receiving a plurality of numbers representing a respective plurality of pixels that form a plurality of dither patterns. Each dither pattern is a particular portion of the image to be displayed and each pixel is represented by a particular number. The method also includes assigning, to each number, an address identifying a particular one of the plurality of mirrors in a particular position. The address is unique among the addresses assigned to each of the plurality of numbers. The method also includes displaying the dither patterns one after another in a predetermined frame time period using the digital micromirror device. The dither patterns are displayed by showing each pixel on a display according to the number representing the pixel.

  • Publication number: 20060008328
Abstract: An internally isothermal control volume of a flow verification system for measuring gas pressure drop relative to time to calculate flow rate has a thermal reservoir provided therein. The thermal reservoir is de-coupled from ambient effects so that the temperature of the thermal reservoir will be driven to the gas temperature during steady state flow of gas through the known volume and during gas expansion, will transfer heat to maintain a contrast gas temperature for accurate gas flow rate calculation with minimal effect from external influence during the verification process.
