  • Publication number: 20210311761
Abstract: Log information is retrieved from a log of a container running in a virtual machine in response to a request for the log information, by accessing a virtual disk of the virtual machine, reading the log of the container from the virtual disk and preparing the requested log information from the log, and transmitting the requested log information to a virtual machine (VM) management process running in a host computer of the virtual machine for the VM management process to forward to a requestor of the log information. Alternatively, log data of the container running in the virtual machine may be streamed to the VM management process over a virtual socket communication channel that is established between the virtual machine and the VM management process.

  • Publication number: 20210232419
Abstract: Memory shortage is detected in a clustered container host system so that workloads can be shut down gracefully. A method of managing memory in a virtual machine (VM) in which containers are executed, includes the steps of: monitoring a dummy process that runs in the VM concurrently with the containers, the dummy process being configured to be terminated by an operating system of the VM under a low memory condition before any other processes running in the VM; upon detecting that the dummy process has been terminated, selecting one of the containers to be terminated; and terminating processes of the selected container.

  • Publication number: 20200278235
Abstract: The present disclosure includes a method for creating a masking curve for an ultrasonic or radar-based fill level measuring device. A measuring signal is transmitted, a measurement curve is recorded based on the reflected measuring signal, and at least two greatest maxima are ascertained from the measurement curve. The at least two ascertained maxima are normalized with reference to the greatest maximum and one of the normalized maxima is assigned to the fill level, so that the masking curve can be created based on the measurement curve in at least one subrange between the fill level measuring device and the maximum of the fill level value. Because of the normalization of the maxima, the danger of mistake in the assignment can be lessened, so that the assignment and subsequent fill level measurements are reliable.

  • Publication number: 20200209046
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for determining fill level of a substance in a container using a measuring device working according to the travel time principle. The measuring device transmits signals to the fill substance and, based on signal fractions reflected back in the container, ascertains an echo curve. The echo curve is transmitted to a superordinate control unit, and an envelope curve enveloping the echo curve is created and transmitted to the superordinate control unit. The echo curve and envelope curve are evaluated by the superordinate control unit. A wanted echo signal of the echo curve and envelope curve is identified. During the determining of the fill level the fill substance and the container are subjected to a current process. Based on information concerning the current process, plausibility of the wanted echo signal is checked and the evaluation is dynamically adapted to the current process.

  • Patent number: 10538809
Abstract: Short tandem repeat (STR) markers are genetic elements that are frequently used in the fields of forensic analysis, paternity determination and detection of genetic diseases and cancers. Such analysis involves the amplification of STR loci. Technically, this can be challenging due to sequence variations in the flanking regions of the locus. In the case of SE33, previous amplification efforts have failed. The present invention describes a set of primers for the amplification of SE33 and a method for the analysis of the presence and/or level of SE33, also in combination with other STRs.
