  • Publication number: 20070154338
Abstract: A method of fabricating a machine component is provided. The method includes preparing at least a portion of a surface of a machine component for receiving a sintered preform. The method also includes forming a pre-sintered preform hybrid hardface mixture that includes combining a predetermined portion of at least one hardfacing material with a predetermined portion of at least one brazing material. The method further includes forming a pre-sintered preform. The pre-sintered preform has predetermined dimensions. The method also includes forming the sintered preform and positioning the sintered preform on the machine component. The method further includes fixedly coupling the sintered preform to at least a portion of the machine component via brazing.

  • Publication number: 20070110900
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for coating metal substrates, systems therefore, and articles made therefrom. In one embodiment, the method of coating a metal substrate comprises: disposing a metallic bond coating on the metal substrate, creating ions with a reverse polarity high frequency apparatus at a frequency of greater than or equal to about 2.5 kHz, roughening the surface with the ions to a subsequent average surface roughness of greater than or equal to about 5 ?m, and disposing a ceramic coating on the metallic bond coating surface. The metallic bond coating had a surface with an initial average surface roughness of less than or equal to about 1 ?m.

  • Publication number: 20070017906
Abstract: A method of laser beam welding at least two adjacent superalloy components includes (a) aligning the components along a pair of faying surfaces but without a backing plate; (b) placing a superalloy shim between the faying surfaces; (c) welding the components together using a laser beam causing portions of the superalloy components along the faying surfaces to mix with the superalloy shim; and cooling the components to yield a butt weld between the components.

  • Patent number: 4553269
Abstract: A pocket structure is provided with a chamber to conceal a valuable object such as a billfold. The pocket has a front panel, a back panel and two intermediate panels. The front panel has a slit to form a pocket opening and a flap is provided to close the opening. Behind the first panel is a first intermediate panel which is secured inside the pocket to the lower seam and side seams by a row of stitching. The upper edge of the first intermediate panel extends above the slit behind the flap. The second intermediate panel is secured at its top edge to a support strip. The side edges and the bottom edge of the second intermediate panel are distal from the side edges and bottom edges of the front panel, rear panel and first intermediate panel. The space behind the rear panel and the second intermediate panel define a hidden chamber to conceal a valuable object such as a billfold.
