  • Patent number: 9069361
Abstract: A thermostat user interface (UI) is provided for presenting calculated set point ranges. The thermostat UI has a major thermostat scale for presenting a current temperature and an overall range of feasible temperatures. A set point indictor indicates a set point input (e.g., desired temperature) with respect to the major thermostat scale. A minor thermostat scale presents a set point range, where the set point range is a range of permitted temperature measurement variations from the set point input. The set point range brackets the set point indicator with a maximum temperature value representing a highest temperature in the set point range, and a minimum temperature value representing a lowest temperature in the set point range. If high and low temperature set point indictors are used, then there are first and second minor thermostat scales bracketing, respectively, the high and low temperature set point indicators.

  • Patent number: 8989909
Abstract: A multi-dimensional energy control system is provided with an energy management software application that organizes the consumption of energy by a device as an n-dimensional energy space, where n is an integer greater than 2, and each axis in the energy space represents an energy consumption characteristic. The energy management application generates instructions for a device in response to calculating a compromise operating point in the energy space. A user interface (UI) connected to the energy management application has a display to receive a graphical representation of the energy space and compromise operating point, and an input to receive user commands for moving the represented compromise operating point in the represented energy space. The energy management application calculates the compromise operating point in the energy space to match the displayed compromise operating point.

  • Publication number: 20110083282
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for decolorizing a denim fabric with an oxidizing gas is disclosed. The process is initiated by producing compressed air which is processed to generate dry air. The air pressure of dry air is reduced to maintain at 10 psig and thereby generates ozone gas. A negative pressure is maintained to ensure no ozone leak out to ambient from a washer. The denim fabric may be exposed to a controlled amount of ozone gas for a predetermined time such as a process time. Whenever the process time expires, the amount of ozone gas is converted back to oxygen by running a variable speed motor at high speed to create a negative pressure within the processing unit and released to atmosphere. The method also incorporates a means for monitoring the level of ozone concentration in ambient for the safety of operators.

  • Patent number: 7830907
Abstract: Provided is a frame structure for filtered OFDM signaling, wherein once every frame a central controller passes redundant broadcast data for a short time (e.g. 16 symbol times) over all frequencies in use. This broadcast, called a beacon, may carry control information, frame structure information, and other data. The rest of the frame is divided into other assignments, including broadband redundantly coded channels for broadcast, ALOHA contention access, or point-to-point transmissions, and including traffic channels that may use only some of the assigned frequencies intended primarily for point-to-point access. This allows a mix of TDMA and FDMA point-to-point and broadband access. This system may be controlled by a central coordinator, which issues reservations. This system allows devices on a frequency-selective channel to communicate with scheduled operations.

  • Publication number: 20070260534
Abstract: The present invention is a mortgage method, product, and system that provides for implementing changes in a mortgage loan index, referred to herein as an Interest Rate Index Swap or “Swap”. Customers may swap from their original adjustable loan index (e.g., 3-month LIBOR) to temporary fixed-rate indexes (e.g., 3-year LIBOR) as many times as they deem appropriate during the Swap Window provided the final swap period ends prior to the end of the Swap Window.

  • Publication number: 20070212154
Abstract: An image output device includes a marking engine and a media path adjacent the marking engine. The media path has a media transportation direction and a media transport element (e.g., a nip drive, a belt drive, a suction drive, an air pressure drive, etc.) within the media path that moves the media along the media path in the media transportation direction. A drive motor is operatively connected to the media transport element. The drive motor provides drive force in a forward direction that causes the media transport element to move media along the media path in the media transportation direction. The drive motor can also provide the drive force in a reverse direction opposite the forward direction. A one-way drive transfer device (e.g., a one-way clutch, a one-way swing arm mechanism, etc.) is operatively connected to the drive motor. The one-way drive transfer device only transfers drive force from the drive motor when the drive motor operates in the reverse direction.

  • Publication number: 20070048054
Abstract: Embodiments according to the present disclosure provide methods and systems of determining nip velocity profiles in a medium registration system, including parameterizing a set of equations into a set of standard parameters, the set of equations representing an analytic form of the nip velocity profiles; determining values of the parameters through an iteration process; and determining the nip velocity profiles based on the determined values of the parameters. The embodiments separately provide systems and methods of simulating a medium registration process, including inputting an error parameter to a velocity nominal profile of a nip in a medium registration system; determining an output value of the velocity nominal profile; and using the output value in a regression algorithm to obtain a simulated relationship, the simulated relationship indicative of a manner in which the error parameter influences the output value.

  • Publication number: 20070018385
Abstract: In embodiments herein one or more cams are operatively connected to corresponding ones of idler rollers within nip drive assemblies. As the cams rotate, the cams move the idler rollers between a first position biased against the drive rollers and a second position out of contact with the drive rollers. A camshaft is operatively connected to the cams, and the camshaft is operatively connected to a clutch driven by the drive motor/axle of the nip drive assembly. One feature of embodiments herein is that the camshaft (and consequently the cams themselves) is rotated by the clutch only when the drive axle rotates in a reverse direction opposite the forward direction. Thus, the forward movement of the drive axle moves media through the drive nips and reverse movement of the drive axle rotates the cams, thereby controlling the position of the idler rollers.

  • Publication number: 20060197038
Abstract: Automatically providing electronic sheet orientation information by moving the sheets in a sheet path past a multiple photodetectors array bar to provide electrical signals corresponding to the initial sheet orientations, where this photodetectors array bar is angularly mounted at a transverse but non-perpendicular angle to the sheet path so that differently positioned subsets of photodetectors may be activated by the leading edge of the sheets at different sheet movement positions. These signals may be compared at different time intervals and appropriately electronically analyzed to provide sheet skew, process and lateral orientation information which may be used to automatically control an sheet registration correction system, such as for a printer.
