Patent number: 10491169Abstract: A driver circuit for a transmitter includes a main path in parallel with an error correction path used for feed-forward error correction. The main path has an amplifier for amplifying a data signal to be transmitted from the transceiver. In parallel with the amplifier is a feedforward error correction circuit that provides an error correction signal that compensates for distortion introduced by the amplifier when the error correction signal is combined with the amplifier's output. The error correction circuit is designed to have a high impedance output so that voltage swings in the data signal do not create a demand for significant current from the feedforward error correction circuit, thereby reducing the current of the error correction signal. As an example, it is possible for the current of the error correction signal to substantially match that which is required to cancel the amplifier distortion, thereby minimizing distortion of the signal.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2017Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: ADTRAN, Inc.Inventor: Daniel M. Patent number: 10488391Abstract: A Neural Circuit Probe (NCP) combines a multi-electrode array (MEA) with an automated local probe, wherein the probe is positioned to interact with one or more cells, such as neurons of a neural circuit, grown on or about one or more electrodes of the multi-electrode array. The probe may interact with the cells by electrically recording signals from the multi-electrode array that are assigned to a specific one of the cells. The probe may interact with the cells by locally delivering chemicals to the cells, which transiently and reversibly modulate the electrical behavior of the cells. The probe may interact with the cells by harvesting the cells using a pipette, so that the harvested cells can be sequenced.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2015Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Paul K. Patent number: 10491702Abstract: A distributed caching hierarchy that includes multiple edge routing servers, at least some of which receiving content requests from client computing systems via a load balancer. When receiving a content request, an edge routing server identifies which of the edge caching servers the requested content would be in if the requested content were to be cached within the edge caching servers, and distributes the content request to the identified edge caching server in a deterministic and predictable manner to increase the likelihood of increasing a cache-hit ratio.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2017Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Won Suk Yoo, Nick Holt, Daniel Vasquez Lopez, Aniello Scotto Di Marco

Patent number: 10487245Abstract: A method of decoupling an adhesive system from a contact surface of an object is disclosed. The adhesive system has a full adhesive strength in a de-energized state. The adhesive system comprises a backing, carbon nanotubes, each having a first end region, coupled to the backing, and a second end region, opposite the first end region, and charged nanoparticles, each coupled to the second end region of at least one of the carbon nanotubes. The method comprises steps of electrically charging the backing and disengaging the adhesive system from the contact surface. Electrically charging the backing creates an electrical repulsion force between the backing and the charged nanoparticles, so that the full adhesive strength of the adhesive system is decreased to a reduced adhesive strength. Disengaging the adhesive system from the contact surface comprises applying a disengagement force to the adhesive system sufficient to overcome the reduced adhesive strength.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2019Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Keith Daniel Humfeld, Scott D. Patent number: 10488613Abstract: An optical fiber distribution cable for servicing living units inside a MDU building, is formed by surrounding differently colored optical fibers with a jacket having a diameter of not more than about 3.5 mm. The jacket is opaque for hiding the colored fibers at least partially from view, thus reducing or eliminating any negative visual impact of the cable when installed. The colored cable fibers are arranged so that they are visible to an installer when only the cable jacket is cut open. Connection modules are mounted at corresponding living units, and a section of the cable is placed in each module. The jacket on a cable section in a given module is cut open, and a fiber assigned to the corresponding living unit is identified by color. The fiber is cut, and a length of the fiber is removed from the cable section and stored in the given module.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2018Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: OFS FITEL, LLCInventors: Mark A Boxer, Daniel Hendrickson, Peter A Weimann
