  • Publication number: 20170066082
Abstract: This application relates to systems, methods, and apparatus for welding switches to a bracket for placement inside of a computing device. Each switch can include a metal region that can be welded to a metal surface of a bracket. The metal region of the switch can be a cover that is formed around a body of the switch, or an inserted molded region that is provided on a surface of the switch. The bracket can include recesses that can be used to identify when a switch is abutting the bracket before welding the switch to the bracket. Multiple welds can be provided on each switch to ensure a rigid connection exists between the bracket and switch. Welding can be performed in batches by loading multiple brackets and switches onto a pallet, and thereafter loading the pallet into a welding machine.

  • Publication number: 20170069365
Abstract: 3-terminal magnetic circuits and devices based on the spin-transfer torque (STT) effect via a combination of injection of spin-polarized electrons or charged particles by using a charge current in a spin Hall effect metal layer coupled to a free magnetic layer and application of a gate voltage to the free magnetic layer to manipulate the magnetization of the free magnetic layer for various applications, including non-volatile memory functions, logic functions and others. The charge current is applied to the spin Hall effect metal layer via first and second electrical terminals and the gate voltage is applied between a third electrical terminal and either of the first and second electrical terminals. The spin Hall effect metal layer can be adjacent to the free magnetic layer or in direct contact with the free magnetic layer to allow a spin-polarized current generated via a spin Hall effect under the charge current to enter the free magnetic layer.

  • Patent number: 9586082
Abstract: Footwear for use in resistance band training includes plural spaced straps extending loosely over the instep. Each strap is circumscribed by a connection ring freely movable along the strap such that, when the ring is pulled by an applied force, the ring traverses the strap and is repositioned according to the direction of the force. The user may alternatively select any of the straps to engage a resistance band. A belt for connection to the straps includes a band connection ring movable to different positions on the belt. A pad may be positioned over a front belt ring to comfortably project the band away from the user's body. The footwear and belt may be used with a vest connected to limbs and extremities to body parts for a full body workout.

  • Patent number: 9587519
Abstract: An integrated single-piece exhaust system (SPEX) with modular construction that facilitates design changes for enhanced aerodynamics, structural integrity or serviceability. The SPEX defines splined or curved exhaust path surfaces, such as a series of cylindrical and frusto-conical sections that mimic curves. The constructed sections may include: (i) a tail cone assembly fabricated from conical sections that taper downstream to a reduced diameter; or (ii) an area-ruled cross section axially aligned with one or more rows of turbine struts; or both features. Modular inner and outer diameter inlet lips enhance transitional flow between the last row blades and the SPEX, as well as enhance structural integrity. Modular strut collars have large radius profiles between the SPEX annular inner diameter and outer diameter flow surfaces, for enhanced airflow and constant thickness walls for uniform heat transfer and thermal expansion. Scalloped mounting flanges enhance structural integrity and longevity.

  • Patent number: 9588326
Abstract: A microscope which makes possible a spectrally-flexible excitation and detection of fluorescence in an economical manner. For this purpose, means for frequency conversion are arranged in the common beam path and a filter for excitation light is arranged in addition to the main beam splitter in the detection beam path. The frequency conversion achieves a spectral delimitation between illumination light, which is emitted by the light source, and excitation light which brings about fluorescence excitation in the specimen. Because the frequency conversion takes place in the common beam path after the main beam splitter, it is possible for both a spatial separation of illumination light, and excitation light and fluorescent light (detection light) emitted by the specimen, to be carried out in an economical manner at the main beamsplitter according to spectral bands because of the spectral difference between illumination light and excitation light.

  • Patent number: 9587827
Abstract: A carbon monoxide (CO) boiler or steam generator having a water cooled CO boiler floor with screen gas distribution inlet to enhance distribution of CO gas in a CO boiler. Either the front or rear wall tubes of the steam generator form an integral screen and the tubes continue, forming a membraned, gas tight enclosure. The floor has a “knee” to redirect the incoming waste CO gas up into the integral screen. The screen may be provided with tube erosion shields to prevent erosion of the screen tubes and to control the distribution of waste gas across the plan area of the furnace.

  • Patent number: 9586800
Abstract: A dispensing funnel. The dispensing funnel and system comprise a generally trapezoidal hopper having an open slot along its bottom lip. Attached to the upper by of the hopper is a handle having an upper handle and side handle with a push button. The push button moves an actuating arm that covers the opening slot of the hopper through the use of a rod, spring stop, spring, and spring plate. A lower bracket having guard walls and funnel mounts is placed between the handle and the hopper that helps guide the actuating arm when in use. The dispensing funnel can be used in a method to cook by filling the hopper with a foodstuff, preferably grits, pushing the push button to allow a portion to escape the hopper into boiling water, and releasing the push button to prevent further foodstuff to exit the hopper. This allows for the controlled cooking of grits which prevents clumping and well as allows for more controlled cooking of foodstuff that require extra attention.

  • Patent number: 9591525
Abstract: A new device is deployed to an area in which a network is provided. The new device may join the network using a single handshake via a neighboring device that is a member of the network and register with a network management system managing the network. If the network is overloaded or has limited bandwidth remaining, the network may refuse to admit the new device, or if the new device is isolated, may force some devices that are members of the network to leave or migrate from the network to allow the isolated device to join the network.
