  • Publication number: 20180172011
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a multi-piece containment canister assembly for use in magnetically coupled fluid handling devices such as rotary pumps, mixers, flowmeters or valves. The canister assembly includes a generally tubular single-piece body and an end cap that are sealingly fastened together to form a generally cup-shaped canister. The canister body may be made of strong, non-conductive or low conductive materials, such that it greatly reduces eddy currents. The generally tubular shape of the canister body is easier, and therefore less costly to manufacture than typical cup-shaped canisters.

  • Patent number: 9082247
Abstract: A modular automated collection point (ACP) comprises an array of electronically controlled lockers for receiving items for sale or for delivery to customers, a controller and user interface, a parcel weighing and dimensional measuring unit, and a package deposit unit with a one-way door for depositing items for subsequent delivery to other customers or ACPs. Each door preferably moves rapidly from the fully-open position to a partially-open position, and then slowly from the partially-open position towards a fully-closed position. Each locker may comprise a retractable handle and an elongate, rotating closure element which moves the locker door between the fully-closed (locked) position and a nearly-closed (unlocked) position. Preferably the closure element has a cylindrical outer wall which conforms slidingly to the fascia of the lockerbank so as to present a seamless appearance and prevent prising.

  • Publication number: 20100297608
Abstract: The systems and methods described herein include a sensor for suitable for sensing chemical and biological substances. The sensor comprises a semiconductor layer formed in or on a substrate and a channel having nano-scale dimensions formed in the semiconductor layer, where the structure creates an electrically conducting pathway between a first contact and a second contact on the semiconductor layer. In certain preferred embodiments, the nano-scale channel has a trapezoidal cross-section with an effective width and exposed lateral faces, where the effective width is selected to have same order of magnitude as a Debye length (LD) of the semiconductor material of which the semiconductor layer is formed.

  • Publication number: 20060255290
Abstract: A sample inspection apparatus comprises a sample support; a detection system for detecting radiation emitted by or transmitted through a sample on the sample support in response to radiation incident on the sample; and a cooling system for cooling at least one of the sample support and detection system. The cooling system includes at least one oscillating, mechanical component which oscillates at a frequency different from the at least one of the support and detection system.

  • Publication number: 20060150703
Abstract: A device for securing a metal stud into the metal track of a framing system includes a first lever arm with a handle portion at one end and an endplate at the other end. A second lever arm features a handle portion at one end and a pair of cutting plates at the other end. The cutting plates are spaced so that the endplate may be received there between. Each cutting plate features a cutting surface. The flange of a track is received between each cutting surface and the endplate so that a pair of cuts are formed therein when the handle portions of the device are moved towards one another. The cutting plates also deflect or crimp the flange on opposite sides of the pair of cuts so that the stud may be received there between.

  • Publication number: 20050266417
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for identifying target nucleic acid molecules differing by one or more single-base changes, insertions, deletions, or translocations; and identifying one or more target mRNA molecules differing by one or more splice site variations in a plurality of mRNA molecules. Also disclosed is a method of generating a linearly amplified representation of a whole genome. Other aspects of the present invention relate to labeled detection oligonucleotide probes and translational oligonucleotide probes as well as to methods of designing such probes.
