Patent number: 9654248Abstract: A routing and wavelength assignment method for use in an optical fiber network includes (i) identifying a path between each node pair in the network, (ii) identifying a block of spectral resource within the spectrum band of the identified path of a selected node pair, (iii) calculating a spectrum entropy value of the identified path of the selected node pair based on a logarithm of the ratio of the number of wavelength channels in each of the one or more blocks, to the total number of wavelength channels across the spectrum band, (iv) iterating (ii) and (iii) in respect of each of the paths between each other node pair in the network, until a spectrum entropy value of all the paths between all the node pairs has been calculated, (v) summing the spectrum entropy value of all of the paths between all of the node pairs to obtain a network spectrum entropy value in respect of a network configuration based on the paths between the node pairs, and (vi) determining from the network spectrum entropy value whether a sType: GrantFiled: October 10, 2014Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANYInventors: Paul Daniel Wright, Andrew Lord, Michael Charles Parker

Publication number: 20170019438Abstract: Systems and methods for recording full quality audio and/or video from a plurality of parties, while also facilitating a real-time conversation or other interaction over low-bandwidth network links are provided. A voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) conversation, or other type of session, is facilitated between two or more parties using methods that reduce sound or video quality to achieve a low-latency connection. During the VoIP conversation, or other type of session, the audio and/or video from each party is recorded directly onto a storage medium of their respective device and stored as one or more data files. These data files can be generally unmodified, or merely lightly modified or compressed, resulting in a higher quality recording of the audio and/or video as compared to the audio and/or video that was transmitted to the other party during the session. The data files are then merged to create a final merged high-quality composite recording of the session.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2016Publication date: January 19, 2017Inventors: Timothy J. Sinclair, Kris West, Chad Olson, Daniel Wright

Patent number: 9509600Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and host device that receives, at a routing interface, a request from a transmission control protocol (TCP) connection with a stateful network device. A media access control (MAC) address of the stateful network device is determined and the MAC address and the routing interface are stored as associated with information for the TCP connection in a per-connection routing table. The request is sent to one of a plurality of virtual machines, a response is received from the one of the virtual machines, and the MAC address and routing interface are retrieved from the per-connection routing table based on a comparison of information included in the response to the information for the TCP connection. The response is sent to the stateful network device using the retrieved MAC address and routing interface.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2014Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: F5 Networks, Inc.Inventors: Paul I. Patent number: 9256784Abstract: The techniques and systems described herein track gaze movement of a user while eyes of the user read a document on a computing device. The techniques may then analyze or evaluate the gaze movement to determine if a reading interruption occurs (e.g., a reading pause or irregularity in a regular reading rate for the user). The reading interruption may occur when the user, while reading, encounters or notices a problem in the text. The reading interruption may also occur when the user encounters or notices text that the user has a strong interest in. When the reading interruption occurs, the techniques may evaluate a gaze direction and associate the reading interruption with a text that is currently displayed (e.g., word, sentence, paragraph, page, etc.). Moreover, the techniques may map the displayed text to a location in the document (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2013Date of Patent: February 9, 2016Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Dennis James Taylor, Joshua Daniel Wright, Jed Baraban Reinitz, Tommy Lee Bennett

Patent number: 8910201Abstract: The techniques and systems described herein place product information at a location in digital content where an existing object occurs. The techniques may select the product information based on profile data indicative of interests of a user viewing the digital content. Accordingly, the techniques may identify existing objects in the digital content before the user begins viewing the digital content. The techniques may also receive or access product information to be placed in the digital content. The product information may include identifiable brands, products, or services. Then, while rendering the digital content before the user begins viewing the digital content or while the user is viewing the digital content, the techniques may select product information to dynamically place into a scene of the digital content at a location where the existing objects occur.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2013Date of Patent: December 9, 2014Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: James C.
