  • Publication number: 20220338045
Abstract: Improved techniques of managing measurement gaps for MPUEs include identifying an idle time for the UE in a coordinated and network-controlled manner during which the UE is able to perform SSB/CSI-RS based measurements for a serving cell using non-serving panels. Such idle time is defined as an omitted operation time (i.e., an idle time of a certain pre-defined length) in which the network has to apply the scheduling restrictions in the SSBs' symbols to the UE. Note that currently as per the RAN4 requirements, the network must apply scheduling restrictions in all SSB symbols for all UEs in FR2 at any time (i.e., worst case scenario).

  • Publication number: 20220295563
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to for skipping monitoring of downlink control channel in random access. A first device receives from a second device a command indicating the first device to skip monitoring a downlink control channel between the second device and the first device for a time period. In response to the random access procedure being triggered by a first trigger condition, the first device determines whether the time period overlaps with a time window associated with a random access procedure. • Publication number: 20220232471
Abstract: The present invention introduces a beam-based UE mobility state estimate for power saving purposes, based on monitoring the distinct beam(s) (302) detected by the UE. In other words, the number N of distinct serving beams changed by the UE within a time window T is monitored (302) against the configured threshold values. If N is below a first threshold value “Thr1”, a low/stationary mobility state is determined (303) and the UE applies a first measurement configuration (305) associated with the low/stationary mobility state. If N is between first and second threshold values “Thr1” and “Thr2”, a medium mobility state is determined (304) and the UE applies a second measurement configuration (306) associated with the medium mobility state. If N is above the second threshold value “Thr2”, a high mobility state is determined and the UE applies a third measurement configuration associated with the high mobility state.

  • Publication number: 20220225252
Abstract: In order to perform small data transmission during an RRC INACTIVE mode, a UE may need to determine whether the stored timing advance (TA) is valid. A TA may be valid if its usage would result in an uplink transmission arriving at a TRP of a base station during a time period during which the base station expects to receive uplink transmission. A UE may determine that a TA is valid based on a received fraction of the length of a cyclic prefix and observed SSB time shift.
