  • Publication number: 20160147865
Abstract: A method for analysing incoming data, comprising the steps of processing the incoming data in segments to output a sequence of segment types by extracting one or more properties of an incoming data segment and forming an Unknown Property Vector for each segment of data in the incoming data, and processing the sequence of segment types to identify events in the incoming data. The sequence of segment types is determined, for each segment, by analysing the Unknown Property Vector by reference to one or more collections of vectors obtained from a set of Reference Property Vectors. This may each of the one or more collections of vectors being selected from the set of Reference Property Vectors randomly or based on relevance or clustering.

  • Publication number: 20160139932
Abstract: Branch history information characterizes results of branch instructions previously executed by a processor. A count is stored of a number of consecutive branch instructions previously executed by the processor whose results all indicate a not taken branch. In a first pipeline stage, a predicted branch result is provided based on at least a portion of the branch history information, and one or more of the branch history information, and the count, is updated based on the predicted branch result. In a second pipeline stage an actual branch result is provided based on an executed branch instruction, and the branch history information is updated based on the actual branch result. If the predicted branch result indicates a taken branch, the branch history information is updated based on the count, and if the predicted branch result indicates a not taken branch, the count is updated but not the branch history information.

  • Publication number: 20160110201
Abstract: Executing instructions in a processor includes: selecting or more instructions to be issued together in the same clock cycle of the processor from among a plurality of instructions, the selected one or more instructions occurring consecutively according to a program order; and executing instructions that have been issued, through multiple execution stages of a pipeline of the processor. The executing includes: determining a delay assigned to a first instruction, and sending a result of a first operation performed by the first instruction in a first execution stage to a second execution stage, where the number of execution stages between the first execution stage and the second execution stage is based on the determined delay.

  • Publication number: 20160110200
Abstract: Executing instructions in a processor includes analyzing operations to be performed by instructions, including: determining a latency associated with a first operation to be performed by a first instruction, determining a second operation to be performed by a second instruction, where a result of the second operation depends on a result of the first operation, and assigning a value to the second instruction corresponding to the determined latency associated with the first operation. One or more instructions are selected to be issued together in the same clock cycle of the processor from among instructions whose operations have been analyzed, the selected instructions occurring consecutively according to a program order. A start of execution of the second instruction is delayed by a particular number of clock cycles after the clock cycle in which the second instruction is issued according to the value assigned to the second instruction.

  • Patent number: 9314381
Abstract: A sensor device for sensing wetness in an absorbent article worn by a subject includes one or more sensing elements; and a coupling for communicating sensor signals between the one or more sensing elements and a receiver. A change in environmental parameter causes a change in electrical behavior of at least one of the sensing elements, which behavior can be analyzed to determine occurrence of a wetness event in the absorbent article. The changes in electrical behavior are communicated in the sensor signals to the receiver. The analysis may be by the receiver or a processor in communication with the receiver. Ideally, the sensing elements include capacitive elements and preferably, resonance circuits.

  • Patent number: 9307516
Abstract: A Femtocell measures power from a serving and/or neighboring base stations in a radio access network specified in, for example, 3GPP, 3GPP2 and/or WiMAX. The power measurements are transmitted over a broadband IP network to a location server coupled to an associated mobile core network. Related location information comprising reference positions and/or actual location of the Femtocell are received from the location server over the broadband IP network. The Femtocell generates measurement reports of a serving and/or neighboring base stations in the radio access network. The generated measurement reports are transmitted to the location server over the broadband IP network. The location server identifies the reference positions of the Femtocell from a reference database based on the received measurement reports for calculating the location of the Femtocell by the location server and/or by the Femtocell itself. The calculated location of the Femtocell is used to update the reference database.

Abstract: Executing instructions in a processor includes classifying, in at least one stage of a pipeline of the processor, operations to be performed by instructions. The classifying includes: classifying a first set of operations as operations for which out-of-order execution is allowed, and classifying a second set of operations as operations for which out-of-order execution with respect to one or more specified operations is not allowed, the second set of operations including at least store operations. Results of instructions executed out-of-order are selected to commit the selected results in-order. The selecting includes, for a first result of a first instruction and a second result of a second instruction executed before and out-of-order relative to the first instruction: determining which stage of the pipeline stores the second result, and committing the first result directly from the determined stage over a forwarding path, before committing the second result.

  • Patent number: 9134424
Abstract: A GNSS enabled handset receives signals from different resources comprising GNSS satellites and/or from a wireless network. The GNSS enabled handset acquires location information comprising various positioning resource data comprising GPS data and/or WiFi data from the received signals. The GNSS enabled handset calculates a plurality of possible position fixes based on the acquired location information using various positioning approaches. A current position fix associated with the GNSS enabled handset is determined based on the plurality of calculated possible position fixes via running a location-based service (LBS) client on the GNSS enabled handset. The LBS client determines the plurality of possible position fixes using various positioning approaches in a particular or determined order. Confidence levels for each of the calculated plurality of possible positions are determined and used to refine the current position fix.
