  • Publication number: 20160103013
Abstract: The ultrasonic inspectability of a supplied part out of which a final component is to be machined is determined by following a set of inspection rules for ultrasonic inspection of the supplied part. The rules determine which parts of the polygon cannot be inspected by a scan at a given ultrasound beam angle (typical beam angles are 0°, +20° and ?20° relative to the perpendicular direction to the edge) along a given edge of the polygon.

  • Publication number: 20150098854
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an article by hot pressing and ultrasonically inspecting the article comprises forming and filling a canister with powder material and evacuating and sealing the canister. Heat and pressure are applied to the canister to consolidate the powder material to form the article. The article within the canister is ultrasonically inspected by moving a transducer over the whole of the canister. The position of an interface between the article and the canister, and the thickness of the canister, at each position on the surface of the canister and if there are defects within the article are determined. The canister is then removed from the article by machining the canister using a machining tool, the movement of the tool is controlled such that at each position of the canister the tool removes the determined thickness of the canister for the corresponding position on the surface of the canister.

  • Patent number: 8963776
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for the processing and presentation of flight tracking data from a number of sources, with at least one source include a user access restriction, is disclosed. Substantially real-time flight tracking data is received over a digital network from a number of different sources and is stored in at least a database. Various determined flight paths are stores for a single flight based upon the number of flight data sources contributing data regarding that flight. Upon receiving a query from a user, the user's access with respect to the available data providers in retrieved and the best flight for the selected flight which is determined only from data that the requested user is authorized to access is presented. In one form, the results may be presented to the user in the form of digital map having an aircraft image and historical flight path shown.

  • Patent number: 8958931
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for the collection, filtering, and transmission of aviation information is disclosed. A plurality of flight information is received over a digital network at various remote locations, and the data is filtered prior to transmission to a central database for presentation and use. The database includes aviation information. The method of filtration is dynamically updated as to information concerning a specific flight based on one characteristic of the flight. As to aircraft being tracked, a determination is made as to which receiver should relay collected data, and that determination is periodically revised, such as to minimize transmission costs and maximize signal quality as aircraft positions change. Once the information is located in the central database, it is suitable for use in responding to user requests for flight tracking information is association with at least one identified flight.

  • Patent number: 8855020
Abstract: A system and method for automatically configuring a network so that each switch in the network is aware of the Multiple Spanning Tree Instances (MSTI) of each other switch and the Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) that each switch uses. This is achieved through the use of controllers connected to each switch. A master switch is elected and the master switch monitors messages to determine if a switch should be using an alternative MISTI. If so, the master switch instructs a switch to use an alternative MSTI. Either a switch or a node connected to the switch may determine which VLAN to use in sending messages, subject to configuration from the controller of the master switch. Messages are periodically sent by each controller to educate other controllers to aid in learning which node is part of a group connected to a switch, the switch in turn connected to a controller.

  • Publication number: 20140280680
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to transmit arbitrarily large data units for transaction processing in a networked environment. A request is received to store a data unit of a size exceeding an allocated memory address space of a transaction gateway component of the networked environment. A predefined store function, provided by a repository interface component, is invoked to store the data unit to a data repository component of the networked environment and without segmenting the data unit. A repository handle of the stored data unit is identified. A predefined load function, provided by the repository interface component, is invoked to load a portion of the stored data unit, based on the identified repository handle, where the portion is smaller than the stored data unit.
