  • Publication number: 20040196675
Abstract: A DC mitigation circuit for mitigating the effects of DC in power systems, and a method for doing the same, are provided. The DC mitigation circuit comprises a control circuit for evaluating the amount of DC or harmonic currents resulting from the DC in a transmission line. Switches provide a current to a winding of a transformer, and are controlled by the control circuit. The current provided to the winding generates a magnetic flux that offsets a flux created by DC or harmonic currents resulting from the DC induced by geomagnetically-caused ground-induced currents in the transmission line.

  • Patent number: 6783310
Abstract: A self-centering element for clamping workpieces via deflecting pins, which act between a drive element and self-centering slides. Deflecting pins, which are provided with grooves in which carrier prisms are arranged, are introduced in pairs into recesses in a housing in a plane located in parallel to the mounting surface of the element. The carrier prisms have wedge surfaces, which are slidingly guided in the grooves of the deflecting pins. The deflecting pins are controlled by pistons, which are arranged in the same plane but at right angles to the deflecting pins. The forces are transmitted beginning from the piston via the deflecting pins to the carrier prisms and then to the self-centering slides, which are connected to the carrier prisms and which move the clamping jaws.

  • Publication number: 20040116875
Abstract: The syringes of the invention are configured with ergonomic features that include polygonal shaped flanges and textured barrels. The polygonal shaped flanges, which preferably have between five and ten sides, help reduce the ability of the syringes to undesirably roll when they are put down and reduce the material required to manufacture the flanges, yet are more comfortable than square and rectangular flanges. The textured barrels enable a user to grab and hold onto the barrels during delivery with syringes so as to increase the leverage and control over the syringe.

  • Patent number: 6508310
Abstract: A method for using a controller to control a fluid pump by controlling the rate at which the pump fills with fluid and subsequently discharges fluid. The pump includes a chamber for collecting fluid from within a well bore in which the pump is disposed. A user inputs a pump cycle time and a pump cycle volume to the controller. The pump cycle time input is used to determine a cycling period for the pump. The pump cycle volume is used to allot a portion of the cycling period to the refilling of the pump with fluid and the remaining portion of the cycling period to the discharging of fluid from the pump. The controller controls the pump such that the pump is vented to atmosphere during the refill portion, allowing the pump to fill with fluid, and such that pressurized fluid, such as compressed gas, is injected into the pump during the discharge cycle, causing fluid collected within the pump to be discharged. In another mode of operation, a sensor is coupled to the controller.

  • Patent number: 6456201
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring the fluid level in a well bore to limit fluid drawdown in the well bore to a maximum set level. The user first determines the static water level in the well bore by lowering a sensor into the well bore. The sensor is configured to sense when it makes contact with water, so that the user can be made aware that the sensor has reached the static water level. The user then lowers the sensor to a maximum desired drawdown level. The sensor is then set to sense when it loses contact with the water. The sensor is then monitored to determine if the fluid had has dropped below the maximum desired drawdown level, and an audible and/or visual alarm alerts the user whenever the maximum desired drawdown level is exceeded.
