  • Publication number: 20210189311
Abstract: A device for culturing cells in a shaking operation with passive gas exchange, which includes at least one gas exchange opening, characterized in that the opening surface of the gas exchange opening is not oriented parallel with the movement vector of the shaking movement at at least one point in time of the shaking movement. Owing to the shaking movement and the ambient gas phase flowing around the outside of the device and the headspace gas phase flowing around the inside of the device, which flowing is associated with the shaking, the arrangement leads to the formation of a pressure gradient between the headspace gas phase and the ambient gas phase, which pressure gradient changes depending on the shaking movement and advantageously influences the gas exchange between the headspace gas phase and the ambient gas phase and the gas blending within the headspace.

  • Publication number: 20210168209
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to configuring and operating Internet of things (IoT) elements connected by a network. A computing device receives a request to generate a rule for coordinating operation of a plurality of IoT elements. The computing device determines whether the request satisfies restrictions as described in descriptions of interface components of the plurality of IoT elements in the computing device by referencing descriptions of interface components. The interface components correspond to the plurality of IoT elements. The computing device generates the rule responsive to determining that the request satisfies the restrictions, and sends an action signal over the network based on the rule to operate one or more of the plurality of IoT elements.

  • Publication number: 20210167402
Abstract: A sub-assembly for an electrochemical stack, such as a PEM fuel cell stack, has a bipolar plate with sealing material extending from its upper face, around the edge of the bipolar plate, and onto its lower face. The bipolar plate is preferably a combination of an anode plate and a cathode plate defining an internal coolant flow field and bonded together by sealing material which also provides a seal around the coolant flow field. All of the sealing material in the sub-assembly may be one contiguous mass. To make the sub-assembly, anode and cathode plates are loaded into a mold. Liquid sealing material is injected into the mold and fills a gap between the edge of the plates, and portions of the outer faces of the plates, and the mold. In a stack, sub-assemblies are separated by MEAs which at least partially overlap the sealing material on their faces.

  • Patent number: 10975892
Abstract: A hydraulic reservoir (10), for use for example in a marine pleasure craft, comprises a vortex chamber (16), a hydraulic fluid return line (18) and a hydraulic fluid suction line (20) respective entering and exiting substantially tangentially to an internal wall surface of the vortex chamber. An upper chamber (26) is disposed above the vortex chamber (16) and in fluid communication with the vortex chamber. The upper chamber is capable of expansion and/or contraction in use in order to adjust continuously to the volume of the hydraulic fluid to be accommodated in the hydraulic reservoir. Also disclosed is a method of operating such a hydraulic reservoir, in which hydraulic fluid is directed into the vortex chamber (16) along the hydraulic fluid return line (18) and extracting hydraulic fluid from the vortex chamber along the hydraulic fluid suction line (20), to thereby generate a vortex flow in the vortex chamber. Dissolved air, if present, becomes entrained into bubbles which rise to the upper chamber (26).
