  • Publication number: 20080038244
Abstract: A screen using RNAi methods was used to test the entire set of protein kinases in Drosophila for an effect on mitosis. Most kinases previously known to be involved in the cell cycle were identified, providing validation of the approach. A mitotic function was found for a number of kinases not previously known to be involved in the cell cycle. Materials and methods are therefore provided for control of the cell cycle using modulators of expression or activity of kinases not previously known to act in mitosis, including human orthologues thereof.

  • Patent number: 7090636
Abstract: A magnet keeper-shield assembly adapted to hold and store a permanent magnet used to generate a high gradient magnetic field that, in one embodiment, may penetrate into deep targeted tumor sites in order to attract magnetically responsive micro-carriers. The magnet keeper-shield assembly includes a magnetically permeable keeper-shield with a bore dimensioned to hold the magnet. A lever mechanism is used to push the magnet partially out of the keeper-shield. The actuator is assisted by several springs extending through the base of the keeper-shield.

  • Publication number: 20060112024
Abstract: A system for returning a mailpiece to a sender without a human readable return address on the mailpiece. The system includes a device adapted to generate a machine-readable code to be printed on the mailpiece. The machine-readable code includes a return address for the sender. A scanning device is used to interpret the machine-readable code when it is determined that the mailpiece is to be returned to the sender. A printing device can receive instructions from the scanning device to print the return address in a human readable form for return of the mailpiece to the sender.

  • Publication number: 20050227301
Abstract: The invention describes human genes involved in cell cycle progression, including mitosis and meiosis. The invention also relates to the use of these “cell cycle progression” genes and proteins in the modulation of cell cycle progression in cells and methods for identifying modulators of these genes or proteins and hence modulators of mitosis and meiosis.

  • Patent number: 6378132
Abstract: A system that relates annotations captured at an event and continuous signal recordings, such as video recordings, of the event in such as way that once the recordings and annotations are distributed to a remote site, an operator does not have to manually identify the time intervals of individual segments that are identified in the annotations. Prior to distribution to the remote sites, the annotations that are collected for the event are processed to identify a series of time segments, including a time interval of the signal recordings. The time reference for these identified time intervals is based on the signal recordings themselves, for example, being relative to a time reference marks that are introduced into the video recordings before they are distributed to the remote site, or being based on an recorded time signal.
