  • Publication number: 20100174734
Abstract: Tools and techniques for asynchronous database updates between client applications and search utilities are provided. These tools may receive indications of updates occurring within a workspace in which two or more users are collaborating. Updates to the collaborative workspace may be committed to a collaboration database maintained internally by a collaboration application. The tools may generate request to commit these updates to a search utility, so that the updates are searchable. The search utility maintains a search database that is decoupled from and operates independently of the collaboration database. The tools may increment a notification counter associated with the collaborative workspace, with the notification counter tracking how many requests to commit updates are pending. Finally, the tools may send the request to commit the update to the search database asynchronously with respect to the collaboration database.

  • Patent number: 7739262
Abstract: Currency and consistency requirements are specified as part of a query against a database that may contain replicated data that is updated asynchronously and therefore may not be completely up to date. The database system constructs query execution plans that include an input selection operator that verifies the currency of a replica and selects a subplan using the replica for execution only when the replica meets the query's currency constraints. It checks possible query execution plans at construction time against the query's consistency constraints and any plans that may produce a result not meeting the consistency constraints are rejected. In this way, the query result is guaranteed to satisfy the query's currency and consistency requirements.

  • Publication number: 20090319501
Abstract: A query translation system and method for processing a streaming language query on existing or stored data. The streaming language query is applied against a data stream log by first translating the streaming language query into a database management system query (such as a SQL query) and then applying the translated streaming language query against the data stream log. Embodiments of the query translation system and method include a bitemporal converter that converts a bitemporal data stream log into a canonical history table format. Once in this format, embodiments of the query translation system and method translate a streaming language query into a SQL query. A categorization of each of the streaming operators that make up the streaming language query is performed to determine which translation technique to use. In general, one of three general translation techniques is used based on these categorizations of the streaming operators.

  • Publication number: 20090039102
Abstract: A bead feeder for serially delivering beads to a downstream location comprises a bead supply wheel which rotates about a vertical axis. The bead supply wheel includes a bead supply bowl and a plurality of radially arranged channels below the bowl connected to rotate with the bowl. Discharge openings in the bowl are in alignment with the radially arranged channels to delivery beads to those channels, and a bead receiving pocket is positioned at the outer end of each channel. A transfer wheel picks up beads from the bead receiving pockets and transfers those beads to a delivery wheel by vacuum transfer and release. The delivery wheel serially delivers the beads to the downstream location.
