Accessories such as connector cables and plug-in docks are not required. Direct-charging docks recessed for accepting the base of a device such as a handheld electronic device may have, in the recess, a male connector for snug electrical engagement to the device. Other connectors for such devices are implemented without recessed device docks but are surrounded by a rim to prevent injury that might result from inadvertent contact with the connector.

The first stage may include heating the green honeycomb ceramic body from room temperature to a first temperature that at a first heating rate that is greater than or equal to about 75° C./hr. The second stage may include heating the green honeycomb ceramic body from the first temperature to a second temperature at a second heating rate that is less than or equal to the first heating rate.
