    Abstract: A computer-implemented method for controlling a vehicle system of a host vehicle merging into a lane. The method includes determining an actual distance between the host vehicle and the one or more remote vehicles. The actual distance is a longitudinal distance between the host vehicle and the one or more remote vehicles. The method includes determining a safe distance for merging into the lane based on a relative position of the host vehicle to the one or more remote vehicles, a speed of the host vehicle, and a speed of the one or more remote vehicles. The safe distance is a second longitudinal distance between the host vehicle and the one or more remote vehicles. The method includes controlling the vehicle system of the host vehicle to assist a merge maneuver by the host vehicle according to the actual distance and the safe distance.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing a decorative fired substrate such as ceramic, glass, brick, metal or metal enamel. The process includes a step of digitally applying a primer ink composition comprising a metal or metalloid ion component dissolved in a liquid matrix on selective locations of the substrate. The primer ink composition can be applied before or after the application of a color ink. By applying a primer ink composition, the color of the substrate is improved after the substrate is fired, and the manufacture cost is reduced compared with current industrial decorative ceramic tile processes.

    Abstract: A streamlined method for purifying alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) from an AAT-containing protein mixture, such as Coh fraction IV precipitate, is provided. In the method of the invention, contaminating proteins are destabilized by cleavage of disulfide bonds with a reducing reagent, such as dithiol, which does not affect AAT. The destabilized proteins are then preferentially adsorbed on a solid protein-adsorbing material, without the addition of a salt as a precipitante. Spearation of the solid absorbent from the solution leaves a purified AAT solution that is directly suitabale for chromatographic purification, without the need for extensive desalting as in prior art processes. A process incorporating this method, which provides pharmaceutical grade AAT in high yield on a commercial scale, is also described.

    Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described that enable radar attenuation mitigation. To improve radar performance, characteristics of an attenuator and/or properties of a radar signal are determined to reduce attenuation of the radar signal due to the attenuator and enable a radar system to detect a target located on an opposite side of the attenuator. These techniques are beneficial in situations in which the attenuator is unavoidably located between the radar system and a target, either due to integration within other electronic devices or due to an operating environment. These techniques save power and cost by reducing the attenuation without increasing transmit power or changing material properties of the attenuator.

Each layer has a first magnet, a conduction block, and a second magnet of opposite polarity. The conduction block is disposed in a plane about an emitter of isotopic particles, where an opposite electrical polarity relative to the emitter forms between the emitter and the conduction block. The conduction block has an RF port, an interaction space in its inner periphery, and a polar array of resonant cavities forming along its outer periphery, and a diamond or similar material coating the conduction block surfaces. The system also has a connection between selected groups of resonant cavities at locations of like electrical polarity, wherein the connections have conductive strapping elements within the conduction block.

These parameters provide valuable information to a user regarding current cardiac function, as well as positioning and function of the blood pump.     Abstract: Particles emitted by radio-isotopic by-products of nuclear fission are used as a power source at the cathode of a magnetron system. Particles include high energy electrons having a large associated EMF. In the system a radial electrical vector E, between the cathode and anode, interacts with an axial magnetic vector B vector to produce an E×B force that rotates the particles about the system axis. These emissions are within a set range of velocities. The angular velocity and geometry of a rotating field, known as a space charge wheel (SCW), may be modulated by an external RF inputs to cavities of an anode block and the use of concentric biasing grids between the cathode and anode block. The SCW induces LC values into cavities of the anode, exciting them and producing electrons resonance which may be used to generate power.

    Abstract: A 3D relief effect is created on a ceramic tile with an inkjet printer and an inkjet print head by printing a relief pattern with an effect ink having a low surface tension on the ceramic tile. The inkjet printer and inkjet print head apply an aqueous glaze slurry having a high surface tension on top of the effect ink. An image is printed on the glaze and the tile is fired. A difference in surface tensions causes the aqueous glaze to move away from the printed effect ink, resulting in a relief pattern in the image at locations of the printed relief pattern.
