  • Patent number: 8339314
Abstract: A GNSS enabled mobile device receives GNSS assistance data in a determined format from a central processing station communicatively coupled to a wide area reference network (WARN). The WARN comprises a first plurality of GNSS tracking stations from which usable signals are received by the central processing station, and a second plurality of GNSS tracking stations from which unusable or no signals are received by the central processing station. The central processing station generates the GNSS assistance data using a complete set of GNSS reference feeds of the WARN. The complete set of GNSS reference feeds comprises actual GNSS reference feeds from the first plurality of GNSS tracking stations and virtual GNSS reference feeds derived for the second plurality of GNSS tracking stations from processed actual GNSS reference feeds. The generated GNSS assistance data is reformatted into a determined format and is communicated to the GNSS enabled mobile device, accordingly.

  • Patent number: 8321480
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable medium for migrating Information Management System (IMS) Full-Function databases to IMS High Availability Large Databases (HALDBs) are described. Full Function database conversion operations in accordance with this disclosure assign a unique identifier to each segment having a physically paired logically related child segment. These unique identifiers may then be used during HALDB load operations to identify a segment's physically paired logically related segment. Use of the disclosed unique identifiers permit Full Function database conversion operations to avoid the input-output (I/O) and compare operations needed by prior art unload techniques to completely identify physically paired logically related segments.

  • Patent number: 8301232
Abstract: A personal monitoring device has a sensor assembly configured to sense physiological signals upon contact with a user's skin. The sensor assembly produces electrical signals representing the sensed physiological signals. A converter assembly, integrated with, and electrically connected to the sensor assembly, converts the electrical signals generated by the sensor assembly to a frequency modulated inaudible ultrasonic sound signal. The ultrasonic signal is demodulated from an aliased signal produced by undersampling.

  • Patent number: 8285289
Abstract: A method for inter-RAT idle handoff is provided by transmitting a handoff initiation signal from a cell associated with a carrier for a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) area, the cell being located in an overlap coverage area with a second RAT area and adjacent to the second RAT area. Spatial hysteresis is provided by the new triggering method to eliminate the ping-pong issue when a mobile move along the border area. The invention also reduces network resource consumption due to ping-ponging.

  • Publication number: 20120075141
Abstract: A GNSS enabled handset receives signals from different resources comprising GNSS satellites and/or from a wireless network. The GNSS enabled handset acquires location information comprising various positioning resource data comprising GPS data and/or WiFi data from the received signals. The GNSS enabled handset calculates a plurality of possible position fixes based on the acquired location information using various positioning approaches. A current position fix associated with the GNSS enabled handset is determined based on the plurality of calculated possible position fixes via running a location-based service (LBS) client on the GNSS enabled handset. The LBS client determines the plurality of possible position fixes using various positioning approaches in a particular or determined order. Confidence levels for each of the calculated plurality of possible positions are determined and used to refine the current position fix.

  • Publication number: 20120012065
Abstract: The present invention provides for a direct correlation between milk production in livestock animals and the presence of alleles of a gene encoding an adipocyte-specific polypeptide, termed leptin, which gene is hereinafter referred to as ob. The invention also provides novel compositions consisting essentially of specific oligonucleotides that are useful as primers to amplify particular regions of the genome during enzymatic nucleic acid amplification, thus providing a rapid, sensitive and specific method for the detection of the ob-gene polymorphism which may be present in a specimen. The invention further provides for methods of screening bovine to determine those having predictably more milk productivity and advantageously selecting those livestock for future breeding and management purposes based on the ob polymorphisms.
