  • Patent number: 7502516
Abstract: An improved system and method for an extensible codec architecture for digital images is provided. Executable software code may be operably coupled to a codec manager for requesting imaging operations to be performed on a digital image. The codec manager may receive the request to perform an imaging operation on the digital image and may select an imaging component, such as a codec, from one or more imaging components registered in the computer system for performing an imaging operation on the digital image. An arbitration manager may include functionality for requesting enumeration of the operations an imaging component may perform on a particular digital image. One or more pixel format converters may then convert the pixel format in the digital image to a pixel format supported by an imaging component installed on the system.

  • Patent number: 7437165
Abstract: A method of wireless communication. The method includes the step of broadcasting a message, such as channel list message, for example. The broadcasting message lists each available carrier for each available frequency band in the wireless communication spectrum—e.g., 400 MHz and about 2100 MHz. Each available carrier listed within the message may correspond with at least one cell of a coverage area. Moreover, each broadcast message comprises at least one occurrence for each available carrier. Each available carrier may also be repeated within the message a number of times corresponding to a carrier weighting. This carrier weighting in turn corresponds with a traffic load. Alternatively, the method may also include the step of repeating the broadcast of the message a number of times, wherein the number corresponds to a carrier weighting associated with the traffic load. The broadcast message may also comprise a listing of at least one service, such as voice and/or data, supported by each available carrier.

  • Patent number: 7421451
Abstract: Described is the adding of padding to a content file (e.g., image and/or audiovisual file) for anticipated subsequent use such that the content file need not be re-encoded to add metadata and other data to it. For example, padding may be added to an image file directly after an image file directory, whereby the directory can grow as needed into the padded space. Metadata can likewise be added to the padding, e.g., from the opposite direction that the directory extends into the padding. The padding may be added on the first re-encoding of the file, reducing or eliminating the need for subsequent re-encoding. The padding also may be used to track dead space in the file, with adjacent regions of dead space coalesced into a single region of dead space.

  • Patent number: 7352717
Abstract: A method for performing network control in wireless communication systems and a network entity for performing the same. The method and network entity pool at least one network parameter at the network entity, from at least two active set base transceiver stations and determine a current status of a mobile in the wireless communication system, using the pooled network parameters. The active set base transceiver stations may include a serving base transceiver station and a target base transceiver station. The network parameter may be a confidence metric and/or an error metric for each of a plurality of hypotheses, a power up/power down signal, and/or a measured signal-to-noise ratio and/or energy parameter of a pilot signal from the mobile. The current status of the mobile to be determined may be the mobile's decision to switch to the target base transceiver station transceiver or which base transceiver station transceiver the mobile is currently communication with.

  • Patent number: 7327179
Abstract: A pulse generator is provided for generating pulses with a selectable variable width and/or delay. The pulse generator comprises an oscillator and a selecting arrangement for selecting how many of a first group of delay elements are connected in series for delaying the oscillator signal. Identical delay elements are connected in series to form a second group. A measuring circuit repeatedly measures the delay provided by the second group, for example providing output pulses whose width or duration is equal to the delay. A reference pulse generator generates a series of reference pulses, each of which is a predetermined fraction of the oscillator period. A control circuit compares the measurement and reference pulses to generate an error signal that is fed back to timing delay control inputs of all the delay elements such that the widths of the measurement and reference pulses are made substantially equal to each other.
