Abstract: A sterile and disposable medical hand guard includes a dorsal absorption layer and an optional wrist layer. The sharps guard is wearable underneath or above a standard medical glove and includes an adhesive layer for attachment to either the skin of a user's hand or a surface of a medical glove. The dorsal absorption layer is shaped to protect a dorsal thenar space of the hand, and optionally at least a portion of the dorsal regions of each of the index finger and thumb. The dorsal absorption layer includes a semi-fluid gel surrounded by a firm gel to slow the ingress of sharps (e.g., a needle) and provide sufficient time to stop ingress of the sharps prior to reaching the skin of the user's hand. The wrist layer includes gel segments to provide a comfortable pressure around a user's wrist while facilitating wrist flexion and dexterity of motion.

  • Publication number: 20230336786
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method receives a plurality of sample values. The method then determines a filter to determine an up-sampled value for a first layer for a video, wherein the filter has a set of coefficient values of [?1, 3, ?9, 47, 31, ?10, 4, ?1] or [?1, 4, ?10, 31, 47, ?9, 3, ?1] assigned to the filter. The up-sampled value is determined by applying the set of coefficient values of [?1, 3, ?9, 47, 31, ?10, 4, ?1] or [?1, 4, ?10, 31, 47, ?9, 3, ?1] to the plurality of sample values. The method then outputs the up-sampled value for use in coding a second layer of a higher resolution than the first layer. The up-sampled values may be for the 6/16 and ?6/16 phase offsets.

  • Publication number: 20230330742
Abstract: A twin roll casting system includes a pair of counter-rotating casting rolls, a casting roll controller is configured to adjust at least one process control setpoint for the casting rolls in response to control signals. A cast strip sensor measures at least one parameter of the cast strip. A controller receives measurement signals from the cast strip sensor provides control signals to the casting roll controller. The controller is a data-driven model comprising a database of state-input pairs; and executes the following steps at each time step: measure a state-input similarity between a new state observation and samples, assign a weight to each consequent output of samples based on the similarity measured, and sum the weighted outputs and predict an output of a new state observation. The controller is configured to provide the control signals to the casting roll controller based on the predicted output of the new state observation.

  • Publication number: 20230329864
Abstract: Assemblies and delivery apparatus for delivering a medical device into a patient's vasculature are disclosed. In some examples, an assembly includes a delivery apparatus and a radially compressible and expandable prosthetic heart valve. The delivery apparatus includes a handle, a first shaft and a second shaft extending from the handle, and a locking mechanism to prevent axial movement of the second shaft relative to first shaft. The second shaft extends coaxially through the first shaft and includes, at a distal end portion thereof, a balloon, one or more radiopaque markers, and the prosthetic valve radially compressed over the balloon. A flared end piece extending from the first shaft covers a proximal portion of the balloon during advancing of the delivery apparatus through a patient's vasculature. The first shaft is retractable relative to the second shaft to expose the balloon from the flared end piece.
