  • Publication number: 20220147134
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing a software override of a power estimation mechanism are disclosed. A computing system includes a plurality of tuned parameters for generating an estimate of power consumption. The tuned parameters are generated based on post-silicon characterization of the system. After deployment, the system executes a plurality of different applications. When launching a particular application, the system loads a corresponding set of override parameters which are used to replace the plurality of tuned parameters. The system generates an estimate of power consumption using the set of override parameters rather than the previously determined tuned parameters. Then while executing the particular application, the system makes adjustments to power and frequency values for the various system components based on the estimate of power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20220147847
Abstract: A computer-implemented device and corresponding method are provided for processing a multi-agent system input to form an at least partially optimised output indicative of an action policy. The method comprises receiving the multi-agent system input, the multi-agent system input comprising a definition of a multi-agent system and defining behaviour patterns of a plurality of agents based on system states; receiving an indication of an input system state; performing an iterative machine learning process to estimate a single aggregate function representing the behaviour patterns of the plurality of agents over a set of system states; and iteratively processing the single aggregate function for the input system state to estimate an at least partially optimised set of actions for each of the plurality of agents in the input system state. This may allow policies corresponding to the Nash equilibrium to be learned.

  • Publication number: 20220147453
Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms for metadata, which corresponds to cached data, to be selectively stored to a sequestered memory region. In an embodiment, integrated circuitry evaluates whether a line of a cache can accommodate a first representation of both the data and some corresponding metadata. Where the cache line can accommodate the first representation, said first representation is generated and stored to the line. Otherwise, a second representation of the data is generated and stored to a cache line, and the metadata is stored to a sequestered memory region that is external to the cache. The cache line include an indication as to whether the metadata is represented in the cache line, or is stored in the sequestered memory region. In another embodiment, a metric of utilization of the sequestered memory region is provided to software which determines whether a capacity of the sequestered memory region is to be modified.

  • Publication number: 20220150751
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for reducing delays and obtaining rapid uplink access in 5G and 6G, by transmitting pre-grant messages on a random access channel. In one version, a user transmitting an SR (scheduling request) message at a pre-assigned time may transmit a second message on a random access channel synchronized with the SR message. For example, the second message may be a BSR (size) message, thereby avoiding additional delays. In another version, the user may transmit a series of messages on the random access channel without waiting for an uplink grant, thereby reducing delays further. The methods can generally be implemented by software upgrades, a cost-saving advantage. AI (artificial intelligence) may be used to determine which users may transmit messages pre-grant, and on which random access channels.
