  • Publication number: 20140355553
Abstract: A method in a terminal for providing an ACK/NAK message to a base station is provided. The terminal counts the number of assigned downlink subframes detected from the base station resulting in k. The terminal then establishes whether each of a number of transport blocks comprised in the counted k downlink subframes is correctly received or not. In the case when each one of the transport blocks, comprised in the k downlink subframes is estimated as correctly received the terminal provides to the base station an encoded ACK message for the k subframes, which comprises k, the number of subframes.

  • Patent number: 8902811
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and arrangements in a base station and a user equipment for determining an uplink transmission timing correction for communication in a telecommunication system in which aggregation of component carriers is applied. The base station receives a signal from the user equipment on a uplink (UL) component carrier and measures the arrival time of the signal. A timing correction of the UL transmission timing based on the arrival time of the signal is determined. Thereupon the base station determines for which of the uplink component carriers used by the user equipment the timing correction is valid. The timing correction and the validity information is sent to the user equipment. The user equipment adjusts the UL transmission timing for each UL component carrier the timing correction is valid for.

  • Patent number: 8873363
Abstract: The present invention relates to cellular radio communication and in particular to providing information on neighbour cells to enable terminals to perform neighbour cell measurements. In the prior art the terminal attempts to make neighbour cell measurements in a reference signal structure that is the same in the neighbour cell as in the cell the terminal camps in. The present invention is based on the insight that the reference signal structure may differ between neighbouring cell for example in the situation of an MBSFN area that is restricted to a region of all cells of a radio network, or in the situation of TDD mode being applied there may be different regions with different allocation of sub-frames for transmission in the uplink and downlink directions. The present invention solves the problem by broadcast information in a cell indicative of the reference signal structure in neighbour cells.

  • Patent number: 8817719
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and arrangements for providing a more flexible configuration of SRS transmission. This is achieved by dynamically triggering a mobile terminal to transmit SRS. Thus, embodiments of the invention allow dynamically trigged SRS in any uplink subframe, even without necessarily reserving resources semi-statically on cell level. This is done by signaling to the terminal whether the mobile terminal should leave the predefined uplink symbol empty for sounding reference signals or use it for data transmission. In case a terminal leaves the last symbol empty for sounding reference signals, there are two possibilities, either the UE shall transmit one or several reference signals from one or several antennas, or the terminal shall leave the last symbol blank since another terminal may be using the resource for sounding.

  • Publication number: 20140233539
Abstract: In a heterogeneous cell deployment a mobile terminal may need to receive control data transmissions from a macro node at the same time as a pico node is transmitting user data for the mobile terminal, using the same frequency or set of frequencies. This can result in a problematic interference situation. According to several embodiments of the present invention, at least one of two general approaches is used to mitigate the interference situation described above. In a first approach, the pico node's transmission power is reduced in some time intervals, thereby reducing the interference to a level where reception from the macro node is possible. In a second approach, which may be combined with the first approach in some cases, the data transmitted from the macro node is provided by the pico node, either alone or in combination with the macro node.

  • Publication number: 20140226508
Abstract: A method and a network node (110, 111) for determining first channel state information in an upcoming time slot for use by a first radio network node (111) when determining a set of radio transmission parameters for a transmission between the first radio network node (111) and a second radio network node (121) are provided. The net work node (110, 111) receives (201) second channel state information for said upcoming time slot. Furthermore, the network node (110, 111) determines (207) third channel state information for said upcoming time slot. The second and third channel state information are at least partly non-overlapping with each other. Next, the network node (110, 111) determines (208) the first channel state information, for said upcoming time slot, based on the second channel state information and the third channel state information.

  • Publication number: 20140185589
Abstract: Embodiments herein include a method in a user equipment (UE) for transmitting uplink control information in time slots of a subframe over a radio channel to a radio base station. The uplink control information is comprised in a block of bits. The UE maps the block of bits to a sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE block spreads the sequence across Discrete Fourier Transform Spread-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFTS-OFDM) symbols. This is performed by applying a spreading sequence to the sequence of complex valued modulation symbols, to achieve a block spread sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE further transforms the block-spread sequence, per DFTS-OFDM symbol. This is performed by applying a matrix that depends on a DFTS-OFDM symbol index and/or slot index to the block-spread sequence. The UE also transmits the block spread sequence, as transformed, over the radio channel to the radio base station.

  • Patent number: 8743721
Abstract: The invention relates to a method in a first communication device of receiving control information over a radio channel from a second communication device. The first communication device receives a subframe over the radio channel, and determines whether the subframe is a downlink subframe with downlink assignment intended for the first communication device by reading data in the subframe. That being the case, the first communication device decodes data within the subframe, and determines whether any data packet being sent from the second communication device before the subframe has been missed by analyzing an indicator associated to the subframe in the data. The indicator provides knowledge about previous downlink subframes with downlink assignment intended for the first communication device.

  • Patent number: 8737507
Abstract: Determining transmitter antenna weights at a base station having more available transmit antennas than the available number of reference signals can be performed by transmitting reference signals and receiving channel feedback data derived by a mobile terminal from the reference signals. The reference signals are each assigned to one of two or more antenna groupings, wherein at least a first one of the antenna groupings includes two or more transmit antennas, and transmitted using at least one transmit antenna from the corresponding antenna grouping. A first beam-forming vector for the first one of the antenna grouping is determined, and mapping the one or more data streams to the transmit antennas according to a final precoding matrix that depends on the channel feedback data and the first beam-forming vector is performed, to obtain a weighted transmit signal for each of the antennas.
