  • Publication number: 20170188340
Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for transmitting a downlink (DL) grant and DL data to a wireless device. A method is performed by a network node. The method comprises obtaining an indication for providing the DL data to the wireless device. The method comprises transmitting, in a transmission time interval (sTTI) frequency band, the DL grant for the wireless device and the DL data for the wireless device. A position of the DL grant in the sTTI frequency band identifies a position of the DL data in the sTTI frequency band. There is also provided a network node configured to perform such a method. There is further provided mechanisms for receiving a DL grant and DL data from a network node, as performed by a wireless device.

  • Patent number: 9693247
Abstract: The present solution ensures that the UEs are able to make use of all the available reference signals that can be used in a cell for performing UE measurements, estimations or demodulations. That is achieved by indicating on a downlink common or shared channel, the MIMO mode settings associated with a specific network node. The indicated MIMO mode settings explicitly or implicitly indicate available common reference signals and/or dedicated reference signals to be used for said UE measurements, estimations or demodulations, which implies that measurements, estimations or demodulations can be performed based on said received indication.

  • Patent number: 9693350
Abstract: A method and a network node (110, 111) for determining first channel state information in an upcoming time slot for use by a first radio network node (111) when determining a set of radio transmission parameters for a transmission between the first radio network node (111) and a second radio network node (121) are provided. The network node (110, 111) receives (201) second channel state information for said upcoming time slot. Furthermore, the network node (110, 111) determines (207) third channel state information for said upcoming time slot. The second and third channel state information are at least partly non-overlapping with each other. Next, the network node (110, 111) determines (208) the first channel state information, for said upcoming time slot, based on the second channel state information and the third channel state information.

  • Patent number: 9685702
Abstract: The invention discloses a beamforming method for polarized antenna array consisting of a plurality of antenna elements, applied to single layer beamforming or dual layer beamforming, which includes the steps: determining (201) first beamforming weights for phase compensation among the antenna elements within each polarization direction; determining (202) second beamforming weights for phase compensation between equivalent channels of two polarization directions; and calculating (203) hybrid beamforming weights as product of the first beamforming weights and the second beamforming weights. A beamforming apparatus for polarized antenna array is also provided in the invention as well as a radio communication device and a system thereof. With the invention, the single-layer and dual-layer beamforming weights are determined for the cross-polarized antenna array without requiring full channel knowledge or the aid of PMI. Computation complexity is lowered and full power amplifier utilization can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20170104566
Abstract: A base station in a communications network broadcasts a cell-specific instruction to a plurality of mobile terminals in a cell served by the base station. The cell-specific instruction indicates that an uplink symbol has been semi-statically configured for aperiodic sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission over multiple subsequent subframes. The base station dynamically determines that a first mobile terminal of the plurality of mobile terminals is to use the uplink symbol for SRS transmission in a given one of the multiple subsequent subframes. In response, the base station signals a first terminal-specific instruction to the first mobile terminal. The first terminal-specific instruction is distinct from the cell-specific instruction and indicates that the first mobile terminal is to use the uplink symbol for SRS transmission in the given subframe.

  • Patent number: 9603101
Abstract: A technique for operating a network node in a heterogeneously deployed network comprising network nodes of different nominal transmit powers and at least partially overlapping coverage areas is described. A method implementation of this technique comprises a step of operating the network node in a base mode in which the network node is configured to transmit terminal-specific demodulation reference signals for a first set of terminal devices. The method comprises the further step of selectively activating or deactivating operation of the network node in a Single Frequency Network (SFN) mode in which the network node is configured to transmit, for a second set of terminal devices, the same cell-specific reference nodes as another network node of the heterogeneously deployed network that has a larger nominal transmit power.

  • Patent number: 9565696
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for providing a more flexible configuration of sounding reference signal, SRS, transmission. This is achieved by dynamically triggering a mobile terminal to transmit SRS. Thus, embodiments of the invention include a method implemented by a base station in a communications network that semi-statically configures some uplink symbols for periodic SRS transmission and other uplink symbols for aperiodic SRS transmission. The method includes dynamically determining whether an uplink symbol that has been semi-statically configured for aperiodic SRS transmission is to be used by a given mobile terminal at a given time for SRS transmission. The method then further includes signaling a terminal-specific instruction that indicates said determination to the given mobile terminal.

  • Patent number: 9497004
Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for signaling uplink control information in a mobile communication network using carrier aggregation. The signaling mechanism allows the transmission, on a single uplink component carrier, of control information associated with a downlink transmission on multiple aggregated downlink component carriers. Semi-statically reserved resources for the transmission of control information on the uplink component carrier may be dynamically shared by user terminals that are assigned multiple downlink component carriers for downlink transmissions. Implicit or explicit resource indication can be used in combination with dynamic resource indication.

  • Patent number: 9490923
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) in a cellular telecommunications system is able to detect the uplink/downlink configuration of a detected neighboring cell by receiving a signal from the neighboring cell. A characteristic of the received signal is detected and used as an indicator in a blind detection process to identify one or more downlink slots in the received signal. Known pilot signals in the identified one or more downlink slots can then be used to obtain a signal power measurement of the received signal. The blind detection process is also capable of detecting whether a slot of a neighboring cell's signal is a downlink unicast slot or a Multicast-Broadcast Single Frequency Network slot.
