  • Patent number: 10603498
Abstract: A method or system for facilitating the determining and setting of stimulation parameters for programming an electrical stimulation system using closed loop programming is provided. For example, pulse generator feedback logic is executed by a processor to interface with control instructions of an implantable pulse generator by incorporating one or more machine learning engines to automatically generate a proposed set of stimulation parameter values that each affect a stimulation aspect of the implantable pulse generator, receive one or more clinical responses and automatically generate a revised set of values taking into account the received clinical responses, and repeating the automated receiving of a clinical response and adjusting the stimulation parameter values taking the clinical response into account, until or unless a stop condition is reach or the a therapeutic response is indicated within a designated tolerance.

  • Publication number: 20200031891
Abstract: The invention relates to the identification of a new Tau species starting at residue Met11 (Met11-Tau) which is N-alpha-terminally acetylated form (N-alpha-acetyl-Met11-Tau species: Ac-Met11-Tau). Several monoclonal antibodies specific of this new Tau species have been developed. One of this antibody, 2H2/D11, was used in THY-Tau22 mouse model (that develops with age neurofibrillary degeneration (NFD) and memory deficits), and N-alpha-Ac-Met11-Tau species were clearly detected early in neurons displaying NFD on hippocampal brain sections while it is not reactive in hippocampus from elderly controls. Finally, by using ELISA sandwich specific of Ac-Met11-Tau species, Alzheimer Disease (AD) brain samples are clearly discriminated from human elderly control brains. Thus the invention relates to this new Tau species starting from the methionine residue at position 11 said methionine being N-alpha acetylated.

  • Patent number: 10052195
Abstract: An implantable ophthalmic device with flexible, fluid-filled membranes provide dynamically variable optical power to restore lost accommodation in individuals suffering from presbyopia or aphakia without moving parts or reducing the amount of transmitted light. Actuating the device causes the fluid-filled membrane to change curvature, which produces a corresponding change in optical power. For instance, squeezing the edge of the membrane causes the center of the membrane to bulge by an amount proportional to the squeezing force. Alternatively, heating or applying a voltage to the membrane may cause the liquid in the membrane to undergo a phase transition accompanied by a corresponding change in volume that causes the membrane to inflate so as to change the optical power of the device.

  • Publication number: 20180203260
Abstract: An ophthalmic device includes a lens and an electronic component embedded in the lens to enhance the functionality of the lens. The ophthalmic device includes a first coil to wirelessly receive energy from an external device, such as a wireless charger, and wirelessly transmits the received energy to a second coil coupled to the electronic component so as to power the electronic component. The first coil can function as part of a repeater to facilitate the wireless charging. The repeater can receive electrical energy wirelessly and works with various positions, sizes, and shapes of the electronic component. The wireless power efficiency can also be increased using the repeater to concentrate a magnetic flux within the second coil.

  • Publication number: 20180154156
Abstract: Methods and systems for selecting electrical stimulation parameters for an electrical stimulation device implanted in a patient can use an iterative process for identifying electrodes for stimulation, as well as suitable stimulation parameters. The process begins with an initial set of electrode combinations to identify regions of the nerve or other tissue for stimulation. This leads to selection of other electrode combinations to test, followed by the selection of multiple electrode groups (which can include three or more electrodes) for stimulation.
