Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for a data storage apparatus with a secondary optical memory. The data storage apparatus includes a data storage cartridge, a primary data storage medium in the data storage cartridge, and a secondary optical storage medium attached to the data storage cartridge. The data storage apparatus, in one embodiment, includes a beam splitter attached to the data storage cartridge. The beam splitter may be positioned at approximately a 45 degree angle in relation to a data storage surface of the secondary optical storage medium.

Abstract: A convertible wheeled chair is easily changed by an attendant into a gurney of the same height as a patient bed. During the process of transferring a patient from an upright position to a reclining position, convertible wheeled chair shifts the center of gravity of the patient rearwardly, and therefore does not give the patient a sensation of sliding from the chair.

Abstract: A single patient, personal use patient transfer mattress is provided including at least a substantially permanently stainable top sheet having a width, a length, and longitudinally oriented peripheral edges and a bottom sheet having the same width, the same length, longitudinally oriented peripheral edges and a plurality of perforations. The longitudinally oriented peripheral edges of the top and bottom sheets are sealingly fastened to one another. A plurality of baffles, each having a width and a length, are attached to an inner surface of the top sheet and an inner surface of the bottom sheet so as to be transversely oriented between the top sheet and the bottom. The baffles along with the widths of the top and bottom sheets define a radially-outwardly curved perimeter wall that is disposed between an edge of the baffles and the sealed peripheral edges of the top and bottom sheets.

Abstract: Vascular damaging agents composed of substituted 5(6)-substituted benzimidazole-2-carbamates are provided. These agents are useful in the preparation of medicaments for the treatment of diseases involving neovascularisation, particularly for the treatment of solid tumors, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and atherosclerosis. Embodiments include a 5(6)-substituted benzimidazole-2-carbamate of formula I wherein A represents a multi-substituted alkyl group or aromatic ring.

Abstract: A rotary switch rotates about an axis which is at acute angles to a lower cartridge surface and a cartridge end so that a first display surface and a second display surface may be independently accessed by disparate components residing in disparate planes. The display surfaces are generally orthogonal to each other and can have multiple facets, with each facet containing a subset of information. To aid this optical interrogation, the display surfaces may be generally orthogonal to the disparate interrogating components.

A system for transferring a patient is provided including an articulated chair having a back and seat that are arranged to cooperate with one another for movement between an upright position and a reclining position. An inflatable lifting cushion is longitudinally positioned upon the back and the seat of the articulated chair. The inflatable lifting cushion comprises a five-sided polygon including triangular side walls and at least one interior plenum having an air inlet port enabling air to enter and exit the plenum.

Abstract: A push-pull plug has an outer housing that may be moved forwardly and backwardly along a plug housing. When the outer housing is in its forward position, a latch arm is in an upward or mated position and the plug will stay mated to a jack when the plug is inserted into the jack. When the outer housing is moved backwardly, cam surfaces on the outer housing push cam followers on the latch arm downwardly, moving the latch arm and latch to a downward or unmated position. The plug may then be removed from a jack as the outer housing is pulled. Plugs according to the present invention may be adapted for use with an insertion and removal tool according to the present invention.
