  • Publication number: 20050091751
Abstract: A transfer mattress is provided including a top sheet having a width, a length, and longitudinally oriented peripheral edges and a bottom sheet having the same width, the same length, longitudinally oriented peripheral edges and a plurality of perforations. The longitudinally oriented peripheral edges of the top and bottom sheets are sealingly fastened to one another often by heat sealing. A plurality of baffles, each having a width and a length, are attached to an inner surface of the top sheet and an inner surface of the bottom sheet so as to be transversely oriented between the top sheet and the bottom. The baffles along with the widths of the top and bottom sheets define a radially-outwardly curved perimeter wall that is disposed between an edge of the baffles and the sealed peripheral edges of the top and bottom sheets.

  • Patent number: 6885774
Abstract: An improved method is disclosed for the encoding phase for Wavelet-based compression of digital data representing an object or image. Subband decomposition transforms the data into hierarchical tree data. Two terms are precomputed: the highest bit-plane in which any descendant of a node v has a non-zero bit (B1(v) and the highest bit-plane in which any indirect descendant (grandchild and beyond) becomes significant (B2(v). Node traversal is initiated but its extent is limited by a fixed bit-budget. The number of bits emitted by a node as a function of the bit-plane are counted through to the last bit-plane which exhausts the bit-budget. The user can predetermine the coefficient, bit-plane and specific bit at which the algorithm will halt. The tree structure is read only once, thus greatly accelereating the encoding and reducing the memory reference rate by a factor of 2 or more.

  • Publication number: 20050041388
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for securing an electronic component in a chassis. The apparatus includes a frame including a pair of spaced apart brackets for accepting a component therein. A securing device is mounted to at least one of the frame and a cover for providing access to the internal components. Suitable securing devices include a biased pin, and a generally arcuate lever including a pin or protrusion extending therefrom. The securing device and cover are arranged and configured such that the securing device engages an accepted component when the cover is secured to the frame and the device is released from the component when the cover is opened, therefore facilitating manufacture and repair.

  • Publication number: 20050037654
Abstract: An electrical connection of a transfer station releasably, repeatably electrically couples with respect to a matching connection of a portable cartridge. A substrate in the portable cartridge has electrical contacts on a facing surface. In the transfer station, a matching circuitized flexible substrate has electrical contacts on a facing surface thereof, which are arranged to match the portable cartridge electrical contacts when in a face-to-face relationship. An elastomeric compression element, at the rear of the matching substrate, has individual protruding compression members contacting the rear surface and registered with corresponding individual electrical contacts. Elongated electrical contacts are registered with two adjacent individual compression members.

  • Publication number: 20050031184
Abstract: A method for generating a vertical section of an object surface under inspection by a digital optical-video inspection system movable along a vertical Z axis, comprising obtaining a video image of the object surface; overlaying over the video image on the object surface a sectioning band along a section vector to make a vertical section of the object, the band comprising a number of regions of pixels, the center of each region being a sampling point along the section vector; generating a series of video images of the object surface at several Z axis positions; computing a focus quality measurement Q(n) for each region at each Z axis position Z(n); computing a best focus quality measurement the series of Q(n); and generating a vertical cross-section of the object surface from a set of points x,y,z obtained at each best focus location.

  • Publication number: 20050013698
Abstract: An infuision device with a disposable administration set which is inexpensive to manufacture. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention the disposable administration set has a plurality of elongated cam followers connected to a plate assembly, wherein the cam followers are displaced in a predetermined sequence and forced against a delivery tube by cam means driven by rotary drive means. The disposable administration set is injection molded as a single integral piece. The disposable administration set includes adjustment spacers disposed between the plate assembly and the cam followers which adjust the distance between them to keep the device accurate. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention the cam means are configured to provide fluid delivery at a consistent and uniform rate.

  • Publication number: 20050006270
Abstract: A plastic cartridge holder for restraining and protecting data tape cartridges during shipping has individual cartridge slots with corrugated padding between adjacent slots and on the sides of the slots to decouple the cartridges from virtually any shock event. The cartridges do not separate or fall apart from each other when the external bundling material or shrink-wrapping is removed. The corrugations and slots hold the cartridges in place with a retention force that is firm yet comfortable for the user to overcome. The slots on the beveled corners allow individual cartridge actuation of access doors for inspection of the tape leader pins before the cartridges are removed. The opposite side of the holder has a full, cartridge-length access to the individual slots. The holder also has an access slot to allow the user to manually push all of the cartridges out of the holder simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 6788820
Abstract: A multi-stage wavelet transform of an image signal is implementing using a first processing element to perform computations for a first stage of the transform, and a second processing element operating in a time-multiplexed manner to perform computations for subsequent stages of the transform. The first processing element includes first and second adder trees for implementing horizontal and vertical filtering operations, respectively, and a set of row buffers configured such that the total number of row buffers is only one more than the number of pixels required to generate a given vertically-filtered output. In a four-stage illustrative embodiment in which the first processing element processes image pixel data at a sample rate of fs, the multi-stage processing element receives inputs from the first stage processing element at a sample rate of fs/4, and generates coefficients for the second, third and fourth stages using sample rates of fs/16, fs/64 and fs/256, respectively.
