  • Patent number: 5394809
Abstract: An adjustable height table is provided including a panel forming a worksurface, and a pair of telescopingly adjustable legs attached to the panel for supporting the panel. Each telescopingly adjustable leg includes a first member connected to the panel and a second member slidingly engaging the first member and extendable from the first member. Apertures in the first and second members align as the worksurface is positioned at each of a plurality of selectable heights. The apertures are irregular in shape, and an L-shaped locking pin is extendable through the apertures and axially rotatable so that the locking pin is securely lockingly engages the apertures to thus securely hold the adjustable leg in a desired selectable height. One or more C-shaped covers is releasably attached onto the telescopingly adjustable leg, one of the covers when assembled to the leg preventing inadvertent dislodgement of the locking pin.

  • Patent number: 5336856
Abstract: An active noise cancellation system is used to quiet engine exhaust noise. Combustion product from an engine passes through a conduit to an acoustical mixing chamber located in the tailpipe. A microphone senses noise in the vicinity of the tailpipe and provides a signal to a control unit. The control unit generates a controlling signal sent to one or more speakers mounted in a housing that is coupled to the tailpipe. Sound produced by the speakers enters the mixing chamber to mix with and cancel sound from the combustion product exiting he conduit. Some embodiments include a muffler housing forming an interior chamber which is divided into two sub-chambers. Other embodiments include a muffler having an outer housing enclosing an inner housing. Variations have been devised regarding the number of speakers mounted in each chamber and the way in which they are mounted.

  • Patent number: 4960190
Abstract: A torque limiting clutch in which relatively rotatable and axially movable drive members are interconnected by balls and are axially biased together into torque transmitting engagement by air pressure which is released when the drive members move axially apart on disengagement when torque exceeds a predetermined value and in which the balls are guided by a cage so as to be maintained out of engagement with one drive member after disengagement. The cage is thinner than the radius of the balls and springs act on the cage and one drive member to maintain the balls out of engagement with the one drive member.

  • Patent number: 4554962
Abstract: A method of casting or moulding an internally screw-threaded article comprises introducing casting or moulding material around two withdrawable flat core members which overlap within a mould cavity. The leading end face of each core member is formed with a male segment of the female screw thread to be formed in the article, the arrangement being that when the core members meet one another the two screw thead segments of the two core members are located to form two diametrally opposite segments of a male image of said female screw thread, withdrawing the core members from the mould cavity when the casting or moulding material has set and removing the cast article from the mould cavity.
