  • Publication number: 20140297072
Abstract: The device is a group of mechanisms and three types of related computer functions that work together and with the driver to optimize the operation of an electric vehicle with a deployable solar array. The purposes of doing so are to keep the vehicle and its constituent parts undamaged and safe, to orient the solar array towards the sun for maximal electricity generation and to make sure that the vehicle's battery array maintains a proper and appropriate charge.

  • Publication number: 20140214249
Abstract: This device is an ultra-thin vehicle where no more than twenty five percent of its solar array extends beyond the vehicle when it is being driven and the solar array is undeployed. However, this same solar array will cover an area at least twice as large as the vehicle when it is parked and the array is fully deployed. This solar array is also designed to make it possible to easily orient it towards the sun during the majority of time when it is parked. Hence, solar power can be the primary source of power for a typical driver due to the lowered power needs of this tapered ultrathin vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8409336
Abstract: An air filter system (10) has a filter housing (11), an air filter media (12), and an electrical circuit (13) electrically coupled to the media. The filter media consists of a pleated air filter material (23) with front pleat apexes (25) and rear pleat apexes (26) which are coated with an electrically conductive material to form front vertical strips (27) and rear strips (28). The electrical circuit includes a positive front electrical contact (30) and a rear electrical contact (31). The front electrical contact has a rear surface (30?) in electrical contact with an elongated front electrical contact bar (33), oriented horizontally across and in electrical contact with the filter front strips of conductive ink. Similarly, the rear electrical contact has a front surface (31?) in electrical contact with an elongated rear electrical contact bar (34), oriented horizontally across and in electrical contact with the rear strips of conductive ink.

  • Publication number: 20130052076
Abstract: A process for recovering metal from a process material comprising the metal and a component that is more volatile than the metal, which process comprises: transporting the process material in a retort provided in a furnace, the retort being operated under vacuum and at a temperature sufficient to cause sublimation of the component from the process material thereby producing purified metal; depositing the component that has been sublimed on a cool surface; removing purified metal from the retort; and removing deposited component from the cool surface.

  • Publication number: 20120106211
Abstract: Today, power distribution systems can be used to supply power to many loads, and since many loads, such as servers, are reactive (i.e., have capacitors and/or inductors), line distortion and power factor can be an issue. Conventional techniques to correct for line distortion and power factor use a specialized circuit that is generally in series with the load, but these specialized circuits can be prohibitively expensive when used in large numbers. Here, however, a corrective power supply has been provided, which can correct for other parallel power supplies that can reduce cost.

  • Patent number: 7885406
Abstract: Computing endomorphism rings of Abelian surfaces over finite fields is described. In one aspect, an endomorphism ring of an Abelian surface over a finite field is probabilistically computed. A genus-two curve is generated based on the probabilistically determined endomorphism ring. The genus-2 curve is used for encryption and decryption operations and a cryptosystem.

  • Publication number: 20100193261
Abstract: The present invention is a system for supplying a long range electric vehicle and a nearby building with electricity from the sun in a cost effective way. Not only is the overall system totally efficient in the sense that virtually all solar electricity generated will be used, but the tilting solar roof that tracks the sun is a more efficient way to generate electricity than the normal method of putting stationary solar panels on the roof of a building or vehicle. Similarly, the car contemplated in the present invention will be able to achieve a far longer daily range than similarly priced electric cars. Because of the synergistic approach used, the overall system can play a significant part in weaning the world away from fossil fuels without creating huge costs that cash strapped consumers can't bear.

  • Publication number: 20090288890
Abstract: A Solar Car that is safer and far more ecologically benign than any automobile on the road today. All of its solar panels would serve a secondary purpose besides providing power. As a thin vehicle whose chasis was no wider than forty five inches, it would need an electrical system less than ninety seven volts. Connected in series, the four or five solar panels contemplated in this patent would provide most of the power. To make sure that one could use their vehicle regularly, there would also be a supplemental plug in capacity.

  • Patent number: 7337452
Abstract: An apparatus for dynamically positioning a rotary actuator that positions an objective lens in three dimensions relative to the surface of an optical disk. A first voice coil motor positions the actuator generally in two dimensions parallel to the surface of the disk and a second voice coil motor positions the objective lens generally along an arcuate path orthogonal to the surface of the disk.

  • Publication number: 20070099608
Abstract: A system and method for wireless network planning utilizing raster data, stored and manipulated in raster data planes (204-212) and vector data (522) stored and manipulated in vector data planes (528-532). The invention increases the accuracy of network planning by simultaneously utilizing vector data planes (528-532) and raster data planes (204-212) to perform computations using vector features contained within map pixels (604). The disclosed method makes it possible to perform accurate computations such as propagation loss to vector points (602) contained within map pixels (604). Accuracy is further increased because other characteristics such as received power, elevation, and best server can be computed to the vector features rather than processing them with traditional raster resolutions.
