  • Patent number: 6116525
Abstract: An improved hydrant diffuser, comprising a housing or box with one open end, slows and directs the flow of water from a hydrant when the hydrant has been opened to flush a water line. The diffuser can be mounted on any work truck or other vehicle having a class 3 trailer hitch receiver. A hose may be coupled to a fire hydrant to carry water to the diffuser. The other end of the hose is non-releasably attached to a 90-degree elbow which can be coupled to a flange bolted to the top of the diffuser box. The diffuser mounting to the truck includes means that allow the box outlet to be pointed straight back from the truck or in selected positions up to 90 degrees either to the right or left. A debris screen across the outlet end stops any rocks or other solid objects in the water stream.

  • Patent number: 6035742
Abstract: A multi-part handlebar grip which has an inner piece which is secured in a non-turning manner to the handlebars. An outer hand contacting portion interlocks with the inner portion of the grip. The outer portion slides over the inner portion and then is locked in place over the inner portion. The assembly results in a grip which will not turn on the handlebar and which requires no adhesive.

  • Patent number: 6026608
Abstract: A stop is used with fishing rigs having sliding line weights on a fishing line. The stop can be clamped onto the line at any location as a stop for the weight. A long snell is no longer required. The stop can be released as required to allow the line to be reeled in as far as required to land a fish or to store the rig safely. The stop is a hollow body that will not pass through the eye of the weight, and a pin that slides into the hollow body. The line passes through a transverse bore through the pin. When the pin is drawn into the bore in the body, the line is jammed between the pin and the body, to clamp the stop in place. The pin may have a head on one end to capture the stop body between the line passing through the transverse bore and the pin head. With this arrangement, the stop may be self releasing. Sufficient tension applied to the line will pull the pin end out of the body. The stop will come free to slide along the line. Alternatively the stop may be set up for manual release.

  • Patent number: 5291741
Abstract: To ensure that only liquid helium is delivered to a cryostat dureing liquid helium refill, the arrangement automatically diverts hot gas which is produced during cooling of the transfer tube, away from the cryostat. The arrangement comprises a three way valve which is operated by pressure variations as a result of cooling part of an enclosed volume of helium gas to a temperature near the normal boiling point of the liquid at atmospheric pressure. The arrangement provides the advantage in that the transfer of helium to a cryostat now becomes very much a less skilled operation.

  • Patent number: 4530246
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically inspecting brittle articles such as containers of glass and the like has element (50) which applies a force to each article in turn, so as to propagate any cracks in the glass. Ultrasonic vibrations created during the propagation of a crack is transmitted via a constant laminar stream of liquid (76) from which the vibrations are received by a transducer head (94) of the crack detection equipment, which triggers an alarm, a visual display and/or an automatic marking or rejection device.
