  • Publication number: 20170078678
Abstract: An aspect of the disclosure is directed to transmitting a reduced stream of encoded video frames. An original stream of encoded video frames is analyzed, a plurality of frames are removed without re-encoding encoded video frames to generate the reduced stream of encoded video frames, and the reduced stream and metadata describing the plurality of removed frames are transmitted. An aspect of the disclosure is directed to creating a new version of an original stream of encoded video frames from a reduced stream of encoded video frames. The reduced stream of encoded video frames is received, the plurality of removed frames is identified based on metadata related to the reduced stream, a plurality of replacement frames are generated, and the plurality of replacement frames are added to the reduced stream of encoded video frames to recreate the new version of the original stream of encoded video frames.

  • Patent number: 9544439
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for establishing and maintaining communication between two or more communication devices coupled to communication networks. Some specific aspects relate to communication between a plurality of communication devices each of which is coupled to a respective network. Other aspects relate to establishing such communication by way of contact lists maintained and facilitated on systems coupled to the networks. Users of multiple communication networks, such as VoIP, PSTN and wireless, employ multiple communication devices to communicate with their contacts. For example, a VoIP enabled computer is necessary to access contacts on a VoIP network and a mobile or cellular telephone is used to access contacts on wireless and PSTN networks. A contact list, stored on one communication device, in some instances, cannot be accessed from another communication device.

  • Patent number: 9536072
Abstract: The disclosure relates to machine-learning behavioral analysis to detect device theft and unauthorized device usage. In particular, during a training phase, an electronic device may generate a local user profile that represents observed user-specific behaviors according to a centroid sequence, wherein the local user profile may be classified into a baseline profile model that represents aggregate behaviors associated with various users over time. Accordingly, during an authentication phase, the electronic device may generate a current user profile model comprising a centroid sequence re-expressing user-specific behaviors observed over an authentication interval, wherein the current user profile model may be compared to plural baseline profile models to identify the baseline profile model closest to the current user profile model.

  • Patent number: 9462045
Abstract: In an aspect, a client device detects a set of proximate client devices. The client device classifies, for each respective proximate client device in the set of proximate client devices, a relationship relative to an operator of the client device based on a local evaluation of one or more interactions between the client device and at least one proximate client device from the set of proximate client devices in response to the detecting. The client device determines whether to automatically trigger a communicative action with one or more proximate client devices from the set of proximate client devices based on the classifying.

  • Patent number: 9462456
Abstract: The disclosure relates to creating a time-sensitive grammar. A device receives a plurality of data points, identifies a plurality of time gaps associated with the plurality of data points, each of the plurality of time gaps representing a dwell time or a frequency of occurrence of a data point of the plurality of data points, generates a generic time factor representing a multiple of the plurality of time gaps, and combines the generic time factor with the plurality of data points to create a time-sensitive sequence of data points. The generic time factor may be inserted into the time-sensitive sequence a number of times representing the dwell time or the frequency of occurrence of a corresponding data point of the plurality of data points.

  • Patent number: 9413821
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to operating a first device configured to communicate with one or more other devices. An aspect discovers the one or more other devices, wherein the first device and the one or more other devices form a device network, monitors one or more conditions associated with the device network to identify a triggering condition that occurs within the device network, wherein the triggering condition is associated with one or more actions to be performed by the device network, detects an occurrence of the triggering condition, and in response, performs an action associated with the triggering condition.

  • Patent number: 9411632
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to clustering a stream of data points. An aspect receives the stream of data points, determines a plurality of cluster centroids, divides the plurality of cluster centroids among a plurality of threads and/or processors, assigns a portion of the stream of data points to each of the plurality of threads and/or processors, and combines a plurality of clusters generated by the plurality of threads and/or processors to generate a global universe of clusters. An aspect assigns a portion of the stream of data points to each of a plurality of threads and/or processors, wherein each of the plurality of threads and/or processors determines one or more cluster centroids and generates one or more clusters around the one or more cluster centroids, and combines the one or more clusters from each of the plurality of threads and/or processors to generate a global universe of clusters.

  • Patent number: 9413827
Abstract: An aspect enables context aware actions among heterogeneous Internet of Things (IoT) devices. An IoT device receives data representing a context of each of a first set of IoT devices, receives data representing a current state of each of a second set of IoT devices, and determines an action to perform at a target IoT based on the received data. An aspect verifies an implied relationship between a first user and a second user by detecting an interaction between a first user device belonging to the first user and a second user device belonging to the second user, storing information related to the interaction in a first interaction table associated with the first user device, assigning a relationship identifier to the second user based, at least in part, on the information related to the interaction, and determining whether or not the assigned relationship identifier is correct.

  • Publication number: 20160224652
Abstract: The disclosure relates to various distance metrics that may quantify semantic and syntactic relationships between devices. More particularly, a first grammar associated with a first device and a second grammar associated with a second device may each comprise a symbol sequence that re-expresses one or more sequenced data items and one or more rules that represent a repeated pattern in the symbol sequence. Accordingly, one or more distance metrics that quantify a similarity between the first grammar and the second grammar may be calculated according to a comparison between the rules in the first grammar and the rules in the second grammar such that a relationship between the first device and the second device can be determined according to the one or more distance metrics.

  • Patent number: 9386004
Abstract: The disclosure is related to confirming an identity of a first user of a first user device. An aspect includes receiving a request to confirm the identity of the first user, determining whether or not there is a relationship between the first user or the first user device and a second user of a second user device or the second user device based on a first list of user interactions associated with the first user device and a second list of user interactions associated with the second user device, and confirming the identity of the first user based on determining that there is a relationship between the first user or the first user device and the second user or the second user device.
