Patent number: 10180851Abstract: In one implementation, an original physical profile file and a configuration baseline are stored for a virtual machine. The physical profile file includes physical characteristics of a physical device running the virtual machine. The configuration baseline includes configuration settings or attributes of the instance of the virtual machine. A network device detects current value for at least one physical characteristic and compares the current value to the original physical profile file. When the current values deviate enough from the original physical profile file to exceed a threshold amount of deviation that is permissible, the network device determines that the virtual machine has been moved to another physical device. In response, the network device monitors current configuration settings or attributes with respect to the configuration baseline in order to detect an unauthorized usage of the virtual machine.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2013Date of Patent: January 15, 2019Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey David Haag, Earl Hardin Booth, III, James Ronald Holland, Jr.

Publication number: 20180027604Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a method and system for connecting a mobile device to multiple other devices, allowing an application to use a specific wireless channel from a list of more than one wireless channel, and performing methods where a mobile device connects simultaneously to multiple other devices. In some embodiments, a mobile device operates with multiple Wi-Fi (wireless communication) networking devices, IoT devices, or other Wi-Fi enabled devices, and has multiple hardware Wi-Fi channels available. Each channel can be assigned to an executable application on the mobile device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 20, 2017Publication date: January 25, 2018Inventor: David Haag

Publication number: 20180025583Abstract: A method and system is provided for funding a gaming machine from an external source. The gaming machine may include at least one wager accepting device configured to receive a first physical item associated with a monetary value to increase a credit balance at the gaming machine, and at least one promotion accepting device configured to receive a second physical item associated with promotional information. The method includes generating a gaming promotion associated with promotional information for direct redemption at the gaming machine where the promotional information comprising a promotional feature and tracking information. The method further includes receiving the second physical item that is associated with the gaming promotion via the at least one promotion accepting device, validating the gaming promotion at the gaming machine, activating the promotional feature via the processor, and reporting the tracking information associated with the gaming promotion.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 20, 2017Publication date: January 25, 2018Inventor: David Haag

Patent number: 9824541Abstract: The player makes a wager to not only play the game but also to determine the total number of possible replacement cards that will be dealt. After dealing of the original cards, the player selects cards in the hand to hold and discard. The player is then dealt replacement cards and the number of cards dealt corresponds to the amount of the wager. If the player wagers more, then the player receives more cards, which in turn results in the player having more cards per card position. The player has the option of using any one of the one or more replacement cards dealt to each card position, to form a best hand from all the possible combinations of the cards such that replacement cards dealt to a particular card position can only be used in the card position to which the card was dealt.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2015Date of Patent: November 21, 2017Inventor: David Haag

Patent number: 9412240Abstract: At a first point in time, a first game outcome is determined in association with a play of a first game, the determined first game outcome is displayed, any first game award associated with the determined first game outcome is displayed, and if a second game triggering event occurs in association with the play of the first game, a second game outcome is determined in association with a play of the second game, the determined second game outcome is displayed, and any second game award associated with the determined second game outcome is displayed. At a second, different point in time, independent of any occurrence of any second game triggering event, a second game outcome in association with a play of the second game is determined, the determined second game outcome is displayed, and c any second game award associated with the determined second game outcome is displayed.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2013Date of Patent: August 9, 2016Assignee: IGTInventors: Dwayne Nelson, David Haag, Steven Lemay

Patent number: 8696441Abstract: A gaming device and a method of playing a gaming device which includes a game having a plurality of presentations associated with outcomes or combinations in a game. Specifically, the each outcome or combination includes a default presentation and at least one of the outcomes includes one or more alternate presentations. The default and alternate presentations include probabilities of being selected by the processor. In a game, the processor predetermines the winning outcome or non-winning outcome to provide to the player and then selects one of the presentations associated with the determined outcome. The gaming device selects the presentation based on the probabilities of being selected associated with the presentations. The gaming device then provides any award associated with the determined combination to the player.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2013Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: IGTInventors: David Haag, Dwayne Nelson

Patent number: 8677169Abstract: A mechanism for synchronizing states of components in a first routing engine to corresponding components in a second routing engine is provided. In order to reduce the amount of data required to synchronize the state of the components and the time and resources required to perform the synchronization, the state-related information transmitted from the first routing engine to the second routing engine is limited to information used to build states of a subset of the components associated with the first routing engine. That subset of components is limited to those components that receive stimuli (e.g., data streams or data packets) from sources external to the routing engine. Other components on the second routing engine synchronize state by receiving information from those components on the second routing engine that received the external stimuli information.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2011Date of Patent: March 18, 2014Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey David Haag, Gary Lee Harris, Samuel G. Patent number: 8622800Abstract: A gaming method that includes causing a first video image to be generated, wherein the first video image represents a first game selected from the group of first games consisting of video poker, video blackjack, video slots, video keno and video bingo. The method further includes causing a second video image to be generated, wherein said second video image represents an instant bonus game. The method also includes providing said instant bonus game to a player without requiring play of said first game and evaluating a first outcome of said first game when said first game is selected by said player. The method also includes evaluating a second outcome of said instant bonus game when said instant bonus game is selected by said player and determining a first value payout associated with said first outcome of said first game when said first game is selected by said player, and determining a second value payout associated with said instant bonus game when said instant bonus game is selected by said player.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2002Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: IGTInventors: Dwayne Nelson, David Haag, Steven LeMay

Patent number: 8072973Abstract: A service gateway maintains forwarding components operative to forward data packets within corresponding VPNs, and also maintains subscriber sessions for subscribers via respective subscriber interfaces. The association between the subscribers and the forwarding components is independent of the subscriber interfaces, such that the subscribers reachable via a given interface are associable with any forwarding component. Upon detecting an appropriate event, such as a service selection action, the service gateway modifies the forwarding components of first and second VPNs to reflect that the subscriber session is active in the second VPN and is not active in the first VPN. The service gateway also effects a change of a network address that identifies the corresponding subscriber from a first network address defined in the first VPN to a second network address defined in the second VPN. Mechanisms for effecting such a change of network address include DHCP, IPCP, RADIUS, and NAT.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2006Date of Patent: December 6, 2011Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Murty Subba Rama Chandra Kotha, Richard Manfred Pruss, Matthew Lawrence King, Jeffrey David Haag, Francois Gagne
