  • Patent number: 9882677
Abstract: For data transmission in a wireless communication network, a radio channel divided into subframes in the time domain is used. A network system (100) assigns resource elements in a first subframe (20) and at least one subsequent subframe (21, 22) to a user equipment (200). By downlink control information transmitted in the first subframe (20), the network system (100) sends a multi-subframe assignment (503) to the user equipment (200). The multi-subframe assignment (503) indicates the assigned resource elements to the user equipment (200). In at least a part of the assigned resource elements in the first subframe (20) and at least a part of the assigned resource elements in the at least one subsequent subframe (21, 22), the network system (100) transmits precoded reference symbols (504, 06, 508) to the user equipment (200).

  • Patent number: 9838889
Abstract: Method and apparatus for enabling accurate link quality estimation of a wireless link between a sending node and a receiving node. When the sending node receives link state reports from the receiving node, it estimates the current state of the wireless link. The sending node also determines a measurement adjusting parameter if the link state reports are deemed inaccurate in relation to the estimated link state, based on a deviation between the received link state reports and the estimated actual link state. The sending node then sends the determined measurement adjusting parameter to the receiving node, and the receiving node provides a link state report based on signal measurements adjusted by the measurement adjusting parameter. The adjusted link state report can then be used for link adaptation of the wireless link and/or for packet scheduling decisions.

  • Patent number: 9831930
Abstract: The teachings herein present a method and apparatus that implement and use a factorized precoder structure that is advantageous in terms of performance and efficiency. In particular, the teachings presented herein disclose an underlying precoder structure that allows for certain codebook reuse across different transmission scenarios, including for transmission from a single Uniform Linear Array (ULA) of transmit antennas and transmission from cross-polarized subgroups of such antennas. According to this structure, an overall precoder is constructed from a conversion precoder and a tuning precoder. The conversion precoder includes antenna-subgroup precoders of size NT/2, where NT represents the number of overall antenna ports considered. Correspondingly, the tuning precoder controls the offset of beam phases between the antenna-subgroup precoders, allowing the conversion precoder to be used with cross-polarized arrays of NT/2 antenna elements and with co-polarized arrays of NT antenna elements.

  • Patent number: 9831982
Abstract: A method and radio node for enabling higher-order modulation in a radio communication with a first UE. A first table configuration comprises at least one of a first Modulation and Coding Scheme, MCS, table and a first Channel Quality Indicator, CQI, table which tables support a certain maximum modulation order. When the radio node detects that a modulation order higher than the maximum modulation order of the first table configuration is potentially possible to use in the radio communication, the radio node instructs the first UE to apply a second table configuration which comprises at least one of a second MCS table and a second CQI table which second tables support the higher modulation order.

  • Publication number: 20170244461
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method in a wireless device for reporting channel state information, CSI, for a CSI process. The CSI process corresponds to a reference signal resource and an interference measurement resource. According to the method, the wireless device obtains an adjustment value associated with the CSI process. The wireless device estimates an effective channel based on one or more reference signals received in the reference signal resource, and applies the adjustment value to the estimated effective channel, thereby obtaining an adjusted effective channel. Furthermore, the wireless device determines channel state information based on the adjusted effective channel, and on interference estimated based on the interference measurement resource. Finally, the channel state information is transmitted to a network node.

  • Patent number: 9713166
Abstract: In a heterogeneous cell deployment a mobile terminal may need to receive control data transmissions from a macro node at the same time as a pico node is transmitting user data for the mobile terminal, using the same frequency or set of frequencies. This can result in a problematic interference situation. According to several embodiments of the present invention, at least one of two general approaches is used to mitigate the interference situation described above. In a first approach, the pico node's transmission power is reduced in some time intervals, thereby reducing the interference to a level where reception from the macro node is possible. In a second approach, which may be combined with the first approach in some cases, the data transmitted from the macro node is provided by the pico node, either alone or in combination with the macro node.

  • Patent number: 9660778
Abstract: A method for wirelessly transmitting data and control information using a plurality of transmission layers includes determining a number of bits in user data codewords to be transmitted during a subframe and calculating a number of control vector symbols to allocate to control information during the subframe. The number of control vector symbols is calculated based on the number of bits in the user data codewords to be transmitted during the subframe and an estimate of the number of vector symbols onto which the user data codewords will be mapped. The estimate of the number of vector symbols depends on the number of control vector symbols to be allocated to control information. The control codewords may be mapped to the calculated number of control vector symbols and transmitting vector symbols carrying the user data codewords and the control codewords over the plurality of transmission layers during the subframe.

  • Publication number: 20170135086
Abstract: Methods for wirelessly transmitting user data and control information using a plurality of transmission layers include encoding bits of control information to form control codewords and encoding bits of user data to form user data codewords. The method also includes generating a plurality of vector symbols based on the control codewords and the user data codewords. Each vector symbol includes a plurality of modulation symbols that are each associated with a transmission layer over which the associated modulation symbol will be transmitted. Generating the plurality of vector symbols includes interleaving bits of the control codewords and bits of the user data codewords so that the control information is carried in modulation symbols associated with the same transmission layers in the vector symbols transmitted during the subframe that carry the control information. The method also includes transmitting the plurality of vector symbols to a receiver over a plurality of transmission layers.
