  • Publication number: 20140192686
Abstract: A wireless communication system (14) comprises points that have time division duplex, TDD, configurations. Information is obtained indicating the TDD configuration of each of multiple points to which a particular wireless communication device (6) is simultaneously connected. Based on this obtained information, it is determined that one or more time-domain radio resources used by the multiple points are conflicting resources defined by the TDD configuration of one or more of the multiple points as being uplink resources and defined by the TDD configuration of one or more others of the multiple points as being downlink resources. For the device (6), each of the one or more conflicting resources are resolved as either an uplink resource to be used by the device (6), a downlink resource to be used by the device (6), or a resource not to be used by the device (6), based on one or more rules for optimizing use of conflicting resources.

  • Patent number: 8767681
Abstract: One aspect of the teachings presented herein provides advantages for sending precoder selection feedback from a transceiver to another transceiver, for use by the other transceiver as precoding recommendations. The transceiver generates two types of precoder selection feedback, where one type uses a smaller signaling payload than the other and therefore provides a distinct reduction in the signaling overhead associated with reporting precoding recommendations. The transceiver uses the reduced-overhead type of reporting when reporting at certain times, or on certain channels, or in response to control signaling. In one example, a UE in an LTE network sends precoder information to an eNodeB on the PUCCH by sending smaller-range index values that index only a subset of precoders, but sends full-range index values when reporting on the PUSCH, which index a larger set of precoders.

  • Publication number: 20140177487
Abstract: The embodiments herein relate to a method in a network node (301) for handling scheduling of a wireless device (305) in a communications network (300). The network node (301) is adapted to communicate wirelessly with the wireless device (305) over a radio channel (310). The network node (301) determines that a data transmission or data reception corresponding to a multi-TTI scheduling message previously transmitted to the wireless device (305) should be at least one of adjusted, interrupted and terminated. The network node (301) transmits, to the wireless device (305), information indicating that the data transmission or data reception corresponding to a previously transmitted multi-Transmission Time Interval, TTI, scheduling message should be at least one of adjusted, interrupted and terminated as determined.

  • Publication number: 20140169493
Abstract: One aspect of the teachings herein relates to signaling codebook restrictions, to restrict the precoder recommendations being fed back from a remote transceiver, so that precoder selections made by the remote receiver are restricted to permitted subsets of overall precoders within a defined set of overall precoders, or to permitted subsets within larger sets of conversion precoders and tuning precoders, for the case where the overall precoders are represented in factorized form by conversion and tuning precoders. As a non-limiting example, these teachings advantageously provide for precoder restrictions in LTE or LTE-Advanced networks, where ongoing development targets the use of larger, richer sets of precoders, and where the disclosed mechanisms for determining, signaling, and responding to subset restrictions provide significant operational advantages.

  • Patent number: 8744468
Abstract: In a heterogeneous cell deployment a mobile terminal may need to receive control data transmissions from a macro node at the same time as a pico node is transmitting user data for the mobile terminal, using the same frequency or set of frequencies. This can result in a problematic interference situation. According to several embodiments of the present invention, at least one of two general approaches is used to mitigate the interference situation described above. In a first approach, the pico node's transmission power is reduced in some time intervals, thereby reducing the interference to a level where reception from the macro node is possible. In a second approach, which may be combined with the first approach in some cases, the data transmitted from the macro node is provided by the pico node, either alone or in combination with the macro node.

  • Publication number: 20140112248
Abstract: According to one aspect of this disclosure, the configuration of which Interference Measurement Resources, “IMRs”, a given user equipment, “UE”, should measure for Channel State Information, “CSI”, reporting is made more or less invariant to dynamic traffic variations affecting the set of Coordinated Multi-Point, “CoMP”, transmission points used for serving the UE, or to the use of dynamic blanking for those transmission points. These goals are achieved at least in part by configuring one or more of the transmission points to follow a first rule embodying a negative logic. According to the first rule, the transmission point transmits on a given IMR if it has been deemed as being not likely to transmit data at a time relevant to the IMR, and, conversely, to not transmit the IMR if it has been deemed as being likely to transmit data at a time relevant to the IMR.

  • Publication number: 20140112173
Abstract: A system and method for providing an eNodeB with the flexibility to configure a Channel State Information (CSI) report to match a specific Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP) transmission hypothesis, which is a candidate for a downlink transmission to a User Equipment (UE) is disclosed. A UE receives, from the eNodeB, a configuration message that specifies a CSI report. The CSI report is specified by a particular interference hypothesis and a particular desired signal hypothesis corresponding to data transmission over at least one effective channel characterized by a specific reference signal. The UE estimates interference according to the interference hypothesis, and/or estimates at least one effective channel by performing measurements on the specific reference signal, and determines a CSI report based on the interference estimation and on the estimated effective channel. The UE also transmits the CSI report to the eNodeB.

  • Publication number: 20140056379
Abstract: According to one or more aspects, the teachings herein improve user equipment (UE) Channel State Information (CSI) feedback, by letting the precoder part of a CSI feedback report comprise factorized precoder feedback. In one or more such embodiments, the factorized precoder feedback corresponds to at least two precoder matrices, including a recommended “conversion” precoder matrix and a recommended “tuning” precoder matrix. The recommended conversion precoder matrix restricts the number of channel dimensions considered by the recommended tuning precoder matrix and, in turn, the recommended tuning precoder matrix matches the recommended precoder matrix to an effective channel that is defined in part by said recommended conversion precoder matrix.

  • Publication number: 20140044211
Abstract: The teachings herein present a method and apparatus that implement and use a factorized precoder structure that is advantageous in terms of performance and efficiency. In particular, the teachings presented herein disclose an underlying precoder structure that allows for full PA utilization. According to this structure, an overall precoder is constructed from a conversion precoder and a tuning precoder. The conversion precoder comprises a block diagonal matrix and has 2?k/2? columns, where k is a non-negative integer. Each tuning precoder has the following properties: all non-zero elements are constant modulus; every column has exactly two non-zero elements; and every row has exactly two non-zero elements; two columns either have non-zero elements in the same two rows or do not have any non-zero elements in the same rows; and two columns having non-zero elements in the same two rows are orthogonal to each other. If row m in a tuning precoder column has a non-zero element, so does row m+?k/2?.
