Patent number: 6768376Abstract: Pulse width modulated (“Class D”) amplifiers and controllers switching in the 50 khz to 2 MHz range generate harmonics that interfere with AM radio reception. This interference has precluded wide spread acceptance of class D amplifiers in products that include an AM radio. The amplifier described here uses a a harmonic avoidance modulator when operating with an AM radio to avoid generating harmonics at the receiver selected frequency or the intermediate (IF) frequency thereof.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2003Date of Patent: July 27, 2004Inventors: David Hoyt, Stuart W. Pullen, Patrick A. Begley, Arecio A. Hernandez, Jeffrey M. Strang

Publication number: 20030194971Abstract: A circuit for avoiding AM radio interference in a class D amplifier includes comparing means that compares the frequency of an AM signal to one or more reference signals. The comparing means generates comparator signals indicative of whether the first signal is greater than, less than or equal to the reference signals. A frequency divisor signal that represents a frequency divisor number is issued dependent at least in part upon the comparator signals. Dividing means generate an oscillator signal for the class D amplifier that has a frequency derived by dividing the frequency of the AM signal by the frequency divisor number.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2003Publication date: October 16, 2003Inventors: David Hoyt, Stuart W. Pullen, Patrick A. Begley, Arecio A. Hernandez, Jeffrey M. Strang

Patent number: 6587670Abstract: Pulse width modulated (“Class D”) amplifiers and controllers switching in the 50 khz to 2 MHz range generate harmonics which interfere with AM radio reception. This has precluded wide spread acceptance of class D amplifiers in products with an AM radio. The amplifiers described here use a modified modulation technique when operating with an AM radio to avoid generating harmonics at the receiver selected frequency or its intermediate (IF) frequency. One embodiment uses a harmonic avoidance modulator. A second embodiment uses two or more oscillators and tests for the least distorted output signal. A third embodiment switches the mode of operation to a class AB amplifier when an AM signal is amplified.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1999Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Harris CorporationInventors: David Hoyt, Stuart W. Patent number: 6402105Abstract: A hanging display device for displaying pairs of shoes in a side-by-side relationship. The device includes spaced-apart resiliently deformable legs that can be conveniently inserted into the foot-receiving cavities of the shoes in a manner to support the shoes in a hanging relationship. The device also includes a center member that is disposed between the shoes and carries at one end a hook-like member that can be emplaced over a peg or hook provided on a display board. A display panel is affixed to the center member which spans the top of the shoes and provides ample space for displaying product information and promotional material.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1999Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: Principle PlasticsInventors: David Hoyt, Gary Aldcroft

Patent number: 6062992Abstract: An improved ball mark repair tool which can be used to relieve compaction of the earth surrounding the ball mark in a correct manner and then gently force the earth upwardly and inwardly about the ball mark so as to raise the turf and properly fill the indentation. More particularly, in one form of the invention, a downward pressure exerted upon the handle of the device will urge spaced apart earth engaging repair prongs to penetrate the earth in an area surrounding the ball mark and then to automatically move the prongs inwardly relative to one another to loosen the soil and urge it inwardly and upwardly so as to correctly restore the surface of the green to a substantially planar condition.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1998Date of Patent: May 16, 2000Assignee: Principle Plastics, Inc.Inventors: David Hoyt, Gary Aldcroft

Patent number: 5944081Abstract: A head cover for an iron golf club has an enlarged cover section which fits over the head of irons of different sizes. The cover section includes an internal cavity with an enlarged open mouth through which the head passes upon placing the cover section over the head and a protector section which covers, at least partially, the hosel member of the shaft when the head is received within the cavity. A clip near the open mouth expands with the shaft of the iron golf club being pushed into the cavity and retracts to hold the shaft when the head is received within the cavity. In one form of the invention, the clip is uniquely molded into the protector section of the head cover. In another form, the clip includes leg portions which can be lockably inter-connected to secure the head cover in position over the golf club.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1997Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Assignee: Virco Mfg. CorporationInventors: Gary Aldcroft, David Hoyt

Patent number: 5857919Abstract: A putting practice device in which the diameter of the ball-receiving cup of the device can be made smaller or larger to sharpen the putting skills of the golfer. Additionally, the ball-receiving copy of the device is designed so that golf balls entering the cup during the practice session will automatically roll outwardly therefrom by force of gravity.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1997Date of Patent: January 12, 1999Assignee: Principle PlasticsInventors: David Hoyt, Gary T. Patent number: 5800034Abstract: A manually operated toy film viewer of simple design for viewing an 8 millimeter film loop contained within the housing of the viewer. In operating the toy film viewer, the loop of 8 millimeter film is controllably moved past a viewing aperture by a manual crank handle which is rotatably connected to one side of the hollow housing. The apparatus includes a feed sprocket, a spring biased shutter, a simple optical lens and a translucent screen disposed within a small window which is located opposite the viewing aperture and in close proximity with the film loop. Both the drive sprocket and the shutter of the film viewer are operated by the hand crank which car be easily manipulated by the child to controllably advance the film past the viewing aperture.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1997Date of Patent: September 1, 1998Assignee: Principle PlasticsInventors: David Hoyt, Gary T. Patent number: 5792015Abstract: A putting aid to assist the golfer in accurately predicting the path along which the golf ball will travel in rolling toward the cup along a sloping green. The aid includes a light-weight, hand-held casing which has an easy-to-use viewing window with appropriate indexing lines for reading the slope of the green relative to the location of the putting cut. In using the device, after the cup location and slope of the green are appropriately aligned with the indexing lines provided on the viewing window, a cooperating pendulum and pointer mechanism provides a direct reading in feet of the slope of the green as a function of putting length on an easy-to-read scale imprinted on one face of the casing. The scale permits a reading of the slope of the green in feet either to the left or right as a function of the length of the put.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1997Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Inventors: David Hoyt, Gary Aldcroft

Patent number: 5746265Abstract: A lanyard connects a pair of head covers for golf clubs together by a connector section of predetermined thickness with a hole therein for receiving the lanyard. The lanyard includes an elongated line element having opposed ends with a pair of protruding members near each of these opposed ends. Each pair of protruding members has an outer most and and inner most member which are spaced apart a distance about equal to the predetermined thickness of the connector section. One end of the line element has a tab section that extends from an adjacent outer most protruding member nearby the one end of the line element which facilitates pulling the adjacent outer most protruding member through one hole in one cover. The other end of the line element has another tab section that extends from an adjacent outer most protruding member nearby this other end of the line element which facilitates pulling the adjacent outer most protruding member through this other hole in the other cover.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1995Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: Principle Plastics, Inc.Inventors: David Hoyt, Gary T.
