  • Publication number: 20110231453
Abstract: A geospatial decision management system (GDMS) can save the overall state of a user's experience at one point in time within a GDMS session so that the user can restore the overall state at a later time, such as by restoring a geospatial browser view (e.g., camera settings for rending the map on the display screen, layer state information, map location) and restoring the states of one or more instances of geospatially-referenced tools that were active at the time of the state save. Upon restore, the browser and tools are initialized with their saved states so that the user is presented with the same functionality, data, and browser view that were displayed and accessible at the time of the state save. Saved states are transportable and can also be sequenced and animated to allow presentation of a slide show of individual GDMS views.

  • Publication number: 20100131859
Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for managing a collaboration space having application hosting capabilities. A collaboration space, such as a wiki site, can host a set of collaboration tools and resources, including, for example, content tools, communication tools, and other resources for the users of the space. The collaboration space can also incorporate a set of executable application resources, such as application programming tools to permit users to program, invoke, and execute applications directly from the wiki site or other collaboration space. The set of executable application resources can in turn be embedded or incorporated in a Web framework, for instance to permit the set of hosted applications to be served/run to remote clients as Web applications. Applications generated outside the collaboration space can in embodiments be migrated into the collaboration space and hosted and/or executed from within the collaboration space, even if not originally generated there.

  • Publication number: 20090309384
Abstract: A screwless visor for use in a vehicle is disclosed. The visor includes a body, and an arm having a first end and a second end with the second end arranged in the body. The arm also has an elbow arranged near the first end. The visor also includes a mounting assembly secured to the headliner. The mounting assembly includes an inner collar arranged over the first end of the arm and a bracket in contact with the inner collar. The bracket has a hook extending from a surface thereof wherein the hook is in contact with the headliner. The screwless mount assembly will allow for easier installation and removal of the visor from the headliner of the interior of an automotive vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20090144718
Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for updating software appliances. A client can host a software appliance, such a Linux™ software appliance, which a user wishes to update to a newer version. Instead of performing an in-place update by installing a new version that deletes the configuration state and/or user data of the existing version of the appliance, an export module takes an image of an initial appliance installation and then registers further changes to the configuration state and/or user data over time. When the user chooses to update the software appliance, the new version can be downloaded to execute an installation. The export module aggregates all changes to the original installation image as well as user data, and delivers the complete current configuration state and/or complete current user data to the new version of the appliance to instantiate the new version.

  • Publication number: 20070288138
Abstract: Diagnostic codes from a vehicle or other system in transit are transmitted to an opportunity server. The opportunity server searches for potential providers according to user preferences, specifications of the system in transit, and location of the provider in relationship to the travel itinerary of the mobile system. Requests for bids are issued to potential providers, and offers are received and coalesced from the providers. The operator of the vehicle is presented with one or more coalesced offers. Upon selection of an offer by the operator, the service is scheduled, including arranging for parts, personnel and facilities.

  • Patent number: 5644644
Abstract: A flow camera apparatus (10) operable for photographing large original documents in continuous, moving fashion includes a camera (74) located within the housing (12). An aperture adjustment mechanism (86) allows adjustment of the camera aperture from the outside of the housing (12) without opening the housing (12). The iris adjustment mechanism also allows the aperture to be changed during photographing of a document. The apparatus includes lamps (214, 216 and 218) for illuminating the document during photographing and a "T" mask assembly 22 provided with baffles (204 and 208) for allowing only light reflected from the document to enter the image path (88) to the camera (74). The apparatus (10) also includes precisely balanced detectors (126) for detecting entry of a document into the apparatus (10).

  • Patent number: 5160594
Abstract: The present invention includes novel isoelectric focusing cells and methods for isoelectric focusing of amphoteric substances within fluids containing carrier ampholytes which inhibit the phenomena known as spiking or acid notching. The apparatus includes a barrier separating the electrode compartments from the focusing cell compartments which minimizes hydrogen and hydroxyl ions contained in electrolyte solution within the electrode chambers from passing into the focusing cell passageways. The currently preferred barrier is a bipolar membrane; however, the combination of anion and cation selective membranes is also effective. Such a barrier enables very narrow pH gradients to be established and maintained, thereby permitting high resolution separations of amphoteric biological substances.

  • Patent number: 4963236
Abstract: The present invention includes novel apparatus and methods for isoelectric focusing of amphoteric substances within fluids containing carrier ampholytes. The present invention utilizes multichannel recycling isoelectric focusing techniques which eliminate mixing of fluid which passes through the isoelectric focusing cell with the original crude fluid sample. Mixing is avoided by preferably using a dual reservoir system and alternating the fluid flow into and out of each reservoir after each pass through the isoelectric focusing cell. Fluid flow is alternated into and out of each reservoir of each reservoir pair through use of reservoir inlet and outlet valves. The reservoir inlet and outlet valves preferably operate in response to the fluid level within the reservoir supplying fluid to the isoelectric focusing cell. When the reservoir empties the corresponding reservoir outlet valve automatically engages to stop fluid flow from the empty reservoir and to start fluid flow from the full reservoir.
