Patent number: 11970381Abstract: Methods of sealing a metallic container are provided. More specifically, the present invention relates to methods that reduce the amount of force applied to a metallic bottle to seal the metallic bottle with a ROPP closure. The methods include use of a capping apparatus that may include more thread rollers than known capping apparatus. Optionally, the thread rollers may use more forming passes to form threads on the ROPP closure. The capping apparatus may also rotate one or more of the ROPP closure and the metallic container in a closing direction before the metallic container is discharged. In one embodiment, the thread rollers form the closure threads before or after a pilfer roller applies a sideload to the ROPP closure.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2022Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: BALL CORPORATIONInventors: John R. Patent number: 11954463Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to determining a similarity of components of a current webpage to different UI components for use in automatically generating an updated webpage. A computer system may receive information specifying a current webpage, including a particular current UI component and information specifying a plurality of different UI components for an updated webpage. The computer system may identify one or more characteristics of the particular current UI component. The computer system may determine, based on the identified one or more characteristics, a similarity of ones of the plurality of different UI components to the particular current UI component. The computer system may select, based on the determining, a particular different UI component from the plurality of different UI components for use, in the updated webpage, for the particular current UI component. Such techniques may advantageously improve user experience by automatically providing up-to-date user interfaces.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Salesforce, Inc.Inventors: Owen Winne Schoppe, Brian J. Patent number: 8366897Abstract: A microfluidic apparatus and method for performing electrophoretic separation of compounds. The method comprises the steps of: a) providing a separation buffer; b) providing a sample solution in fluid contact with the separation buffer; c) applying an electric field to the separation buffer; and d) producing a variable bulk flow of the separation buffer in a direction substantially aligned with said electric field. Fluid contact between the separation buffer and the sample solution is made through a separation column having a length in the range of from approximately 0.01 mm to approximately 5 mm. By the foregoing, compounds can be sequentially detected and quantified.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2009Date of Patent: February 5, 2013Assignee: National Institute of Standards and TechnologyInventors: David J. Patent number: 8325658Abstract: In an embodiment, an access terminal sends a request for a level of Quality of Service (QoS) resources to an access network, the QoS resource request associated with a call attempt by the access terminal. The access terminal proceeds with call set-up for the call attempt irrespective of whether the access network grants the QoS resource request. Alternatively, the access terminal waits for an extended period of time before the call attempt is permitted to fail. In a further example, in the event of call failure, the access terminal can refrain from informing a user thereof of the call failure. In another embodiment, the access network can respond to the QoS resource request with an allocation of a lower level QoS resources than requested if the requested QoS resources are not available. The access terminal can likewise be permitted to participate in the call with the lower level QoS resources.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2009Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Eric C. Patent number: 8226825Abstract: Systems and methods for performing chromatography separations or analyses are disclosed. The methods are based upon an equilibrium gradient focusing mode in contrast to conventional transient migration-based modes. By matching the migration speed of one or more analyte(s) of interest to the wave speed of a thermal gradient induced to travel along a region in which chromatographic partitioning occurs, significant improvements in detection limits are achieved. In particular, a temperature gradient focusing strategy is described in which analyte(s) of interest are circulated around a continuous chromatography system in order to focus the analyte(s). Also described are various devices and systems that can be used in the methods described herein.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2009Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Assignee: The United States of America, as represented by the Sectretary of Commerce, The National Institute of Standards and TechnologyInventor: David J.
